Got the Black Series spoiler, now I have a question.

I just got my new CLK Black Series Spoiler today! The size and shape is way better than the stock AMG spoiler (IMO, the stock spoiler is too small and unnoticeable) and the Carbon Fiber (CF) weave is first rate. I'll make sure to take pictures when the local MB dealer installs it. But here's my question, I've seen plenty of CF accessories fade under the UV beating of the Southern California Sun. Since this is a Mercedes-Benz product, I hope they took the durability into account and coated it with some anti-fade compound. If it will eventually fade, I would rather paint it body color an be done with it, but I would really like to keep the CF look. Can anyone with the BS spoiler or knows someone who does, chime in?

Here's some pics, sorry about the masking tape, I'm going to wait and have the Mercedes Dealer install it. But you guys should have an idea of what it will look once its on there. Pictures doesn't do it justice, the quality of the Carbon Fiber is top notch! I just hope it doesn't fade.....

I won't disclose the specifics, but less than $1000. It was worth it, I'm happy

Truth be told, I would rather get the Vorsteiner Spoiler instead. But I got a good deal on the BS Spoiler and I couldn't pass it up! With the $1000+ I saved (compared to the Vorsteiner), I could buy the matching CF front lip (like the Euroteck), It's on my to-do-list......

You can go to your local GM dealer and order some of the clearcoat that they use on the CF trim on the new Corvette ZR1 specially formulated to prevent UV fading of CF.....................just know that it will run you about $60,000 per gallon.

The local Mercedes Service Department has a bad reputation, so I'm driving 60 miles to a great dealership (I want nothing to go wrong). The appointment is on March 13th, I'll make sure to put up picks!

Here's a quote from a company called "TITEK" who also make a lot of high-end CF accessories (mostly for the Japanese market)

"Our product is designed to resist heat and UV rays. But to extend the life of the product, we recommend you paint the surface with a clear polyurethane resin"

So if you don't garage your car, that may be something to consider.

Our co-member BRNG IT has the answer. Go to a paint supply shop for body shops or Chevy dealership and buy the special clear coat for the year 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 model.

The roof bow, rocker panel extensions and front spoiler all have this special fade resistant clear coat on it.

I do not know if the product is available. Yes, they say the addiative they mix into this paint is $60,000 per gallon.
