2003 clk500
which one should i go for?

while i'm waiting for my fully equipped clk500 to arrive, i saw there's a 2003 clk55 amg in another dealer yesterday, the car has no options and packages, not even a cd player and the window stick is about 71000 and the sales guy told me there won't be any markups. so on one hand i have a fully equipped clk500 with command center for about 61000 and a strip down clk55 for about 10k more, should i stick with my clk500 or go with the clk55?

If i were u and if it has Bi-Xenon only, i will surely take it.....the moonroof is standard right?

for me , moonroof and Bi-xenon are more than enough

If I were you I would stick with your original CLK500 order. I understand that it is an AMG but the CLK500 has an AMG styling package plus many more options. The CLK500 also has a 302 hp and 330 lb-ft V8. That makes a 60 hp difference and a 37 lb-ft difference between the two. That still makes the CLK500 a fast coupe and you won't have to pay as much for gas all at once. I still think the CLK500 is a better and smarter buy. Just my 2 cents!

I agree w/ Dominic as he points out the slight horsepower differences and the price gap between 500 and 55.....I would also wait for the CLK500. Get the car w/ the colors and options that you want. When your car finally arrives, the long anxious waitting will be all worth it.....

Everyone gives good & correct comment....go for CLK500.

CLK55AMG is a PLATFORM for enthusiast, AMG goes up to V8 kompressor now, natural aspire 5.5V8 stands for nothing.
71k + S/C = 85k, it then turns out to be the quickest daily commuter in the world, ~600 hp
That's attractive for nuts, like me.

I would take the 55 in a heartbeat. You can always retro fit a Comand system and have the dealer throw in the CD changer as a deal to get the car.

althought I do somewhat agree with Shine that you can put a Kleemann s/c on the 500, but for a next to none non-mod guy. I would never look at a 500 if a 55 is within reach of my budget. So what it has no xenon, big deal!! I've already gotten use of my xenon headlight. It's just a trend. I've driven friends' 208 CLK430 and CLK55, although not 209, AMG and stock MB are really cars from two different worlds.

when you have a 55, you don't have to worry about the aftermath of modifying the car because you don't have to.

i would keep the clk500 because you are the one who ordered it and it comes with the packages and options you wanted from the start, with the 55, the only thing that is better is the 60extra hp but that is about the only thing is has.~ and then just to back up what shine said, throw in a SC and 55 will start to become a dot smaller and smaller in ur rear mirror... good luck

I would definitely go with 55. 500 and 55 are two different cars. Just my thought.

kleemann chill boi frank has his opinions.. anyways lets get back on topic, how many hp does a kleemannized 500 put out?! and how much is the SC ? duno where its posted

yo frank if the clk50k has 500 hp then for sure i go with it than a clk55 with only 360plus hp but either way they are both pricey at least more pricey than a stock 500 right hhaha

by the wya did anyone see this month's benzosport... i saw a phat ad on it by HPS... and i just started crackin up so hard

if the Kleemann CLK50k (complete car, s/c, suspension, rims, bodykit, interior, etc) cost the same as the CLK55 AMG. i would go for the Kleemann too.

If you are having second thought why not forget the CLK500 and custom order a CLK55. I had a E430 before the E55(W210) and let me tell you, the regular V8 is no comparison. I got my wife hook on AMG V8 now she wants me to look for a preowned CLK55(W208) for her. Spend the money for the CLK55 now so you won't waste any money on trading in your car later. Also no aftermarket modification means you keep your warranty. It sounds great to add a S/C but to void a new car warranty, IMHO it is brainless. No offense to anyone.

and get this, the clk500 and 55 has the exact same aerodynamics the only significant difference is the engine. i believe if u can afford a 55 then i dun think u will have much of a problem gettin a 500 then kleemannize it and aftermarket items are usually a little bit more pricey than stock but hey u got something unusual and dope on ur ride... not bad of a trade off.

Hello Tango,

Kleemann S/C is an awesome product comparing to the HPS crap. If Kleemann can work out a deal with MB I will bet people will be lining up at their door, I know I would. Or maybe I will move back to Taiwan( for retirement)
