SO TRUE, i'm selling the clk soon an thinking about getting a e92 or 996, and both the interiors are so cheap looking compared to my clk. i'm going to miss that the most from my clk, i feel like a king driving in that thing

I prefer the 7 speed way more because it is more fuel efficient. I read on a web site that the 5speed getting 15 mpg city where as the 7speed 18 city.
That is the main reason why. Plus the interior of the 05 looks better.

I have a question for ya as well,
are you looking for a 335i maybe ? and why would you replace your clk for that ? jw

ooh ic makes sense, i got decent millage with my 5spd but it could be better , the new interior is definitely nice, extra cupholder woot!

i used to drive a 325ci like i said so that was really where all my car "enthusiasm" and my whole modding thing started, after i totaled it i decided to give mercedes a shot since both my parents are both hardcore mercedes fanatics.. as great as the clk500 is i sorta miss the "youngess" of a bmw, so i might get a e92, but with that said i'm also lookin at used 996s just because.. well i love porsche lol don't get me wrong though the clk500 is a great great car, i just want to switch it up

Gotcha.
I am as well a porsche huge fan. Actually i love it more then anything else out there lol. But there is a difference between i love it and i can afford it lol.
I understand the way you feel about the bmw, it will always have that sporty and young feel to it. When you get inside you just want to race someone lol.
btw if you get a 335i soon and hopefully i get to buy the clk500 we can give it a try and finally post a video on the 335i vs clk500 dilema. because i see you are in Cali as well as i am.

i speak from experience, my friend has a vishnu in his car.. damnn... hauls ***!!! but anyways 996s are going for pretty cheap nowadays actually which is the reason i'm lookin into them, u can get used one pretty decent millage for cheaper than a new 335i!

Yeah but imagine the cost to maintain a freakin 996s. I am too young for a porsche and i know it lol. If mom and dad decide to pay for the maintance and if something brakes hey why not... but they wont do that
O i know that vishnu makes the bmw freakin faaaast. I saw a 335i with a visnu stage 2 vs e55 amg and it took it pretty easy lol.... i felt sad
yeah i am looking to purchase the new car around summer time maybe end of summer, so ill hit you up and hopefully by the time i get it you dont have your 335 turned into a beast that would make my v8 look like an jetta lol

I was in your same predicament. If you liked the performance of the 330ci, then you will need to get the CLK500 or CLK550. The 320/350 is no match for the Bimmer. That aside, the BMW is no match for the Mercedes when it comes to the interior.

I have a 320 and I raced my friends 06 330i sedan and it was dead even. I'd imagine a 350 should pull on one easily

yeah Im stock. why would it put at least a car length on a 320? it only has 25 more hp and weight between the two is close, 3.0 vs 3.2. he had an auto though

yeah that kind of explains it all if he was auto .
but in my experiance and opinion 25 extra hp adds a good car lenght infront you know. but again if you are lighter then it will be even,
anyways thanks

sure, by the way I've seen that video of the 335i stage 2 beating the e55 you were talking about and I think theres something fishy about that video. Any e55 member here can tell you thats not happening. I remember when the m5 first came out they were hyped up to beat e55s and even after they were modded they couldn't break into the 11s while e55s have been doing eat easily with few mods

to be honest, i am not feeling that video as well. i mean half of their videos are kind of like uuuuuuuh i dunno but i never actually seen an race between them two specific cars so i cant say anything you know.
plus it seems like the benzo was being floored but again the bmw is stage 2 vishnu and they are hell lighter and i dunno it might be possible but i am on your side and i think it is a fishy video.
But off the topic, i think AMG should honestly start thinking about putting twinturbos or supercharges (like bmw and audi are doing) in their engines because with the gas prizes going up their sales will climb down. I mean amg engines eats gas like no other car man i mean i know that if you buy an amg you wont be winning about the gas and blah blah because you were expecting it to get that much mpg, but woudlnt it be better if it actually saved you money on gas and still be that fast?

I am not suprised those e55 are just brutal
Yeah i was actually hoping for the same, but look at the new e class or the replacement of the clk the e class coupe.... it is not turbocharged and there is no rumors of the amg being turbocharged as well

CLK350
I have had both

I had a 330ci and just got a CLK350.
I had 120,000 mi on the 330ci and only major failure was the power steering pump, rack and pinion failed (BMW does NOT require any maintenance, such as fluid change).
I got 30mpg at 70mph.
With the CLK, I get 26mpg at 70, but expect it to improve.
I agree that the BMW handles better.
I was going to get a 335i, but the CLK350 was lower cost.

MB, I think

The MB feels faster so far, only have 1000 mi and have not used Sport yet.
In Comfort mode, the shifting is much smoother than the BMW.

The "S" is not sport, that is Standard. "C" is actually harder on the transmission.

Manual, p178, says S=Sport, C= Comfort
