2MCHCAR,
I was wondering if you had pics of your trunk with Dynamat? I did my rear decklid so far but I cannot get into the spare tire well since it is plastic and bolted...

I don't really understand this question. I think you already know how to get access to the tire well since you know it's plastic and is bolted down. But unless you create some sort of adapter that deletes the tire well, you are going to have to Dynamat the tire well as is (remove the tire well and you will have a big hole underneath the car). But because it's plastic and is the only barrier to the outside, the Dynamat will be most effective at eliminating noise at this location. Sorry, I don't have any pics of the Dynamat installed, hope this info helps. Good luck with your install, if you have any other Sound System install questions, post them on this thread. Make sure to share some picks when your finished

i talked with dynamat the other day and the tech told me i could lay it over the plastic because it is the outermost layer in the spare tire well. so far with it layed down it has taken care of that rattle... just gotta take off the rear deck from the inside and lay down another layer.

Air vents
Man, great install. Looks cool with the MB logo on the screen. Can you, or one of the other posters here answer a burning question that has completely halted my process. I cannot get the center air vents off to get to the "heat seater" panel off to get to the HU screws. I got the bottom ones off no problem, but I have just banged me head on the wall trying to get the vents off. All posts talk about the pre-2006 vents. The circular ones like you and I have do not come off the same way. How did you get them out? I am sure it's simple. Your help would be appreciated.

Open up your cup holder and get a flat head screw driver and pry it out. there are 4 clips that need to be popped out. 1 on each side and 2 in the center.

How to run the 4 gauge power wire to the battery area
Hi everyone. I'm installing an after market amp. and was wondering where was the best area to run the 4 gage power wire to the battery on a 2005 CLK 55. All help and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I ran the 4g wire from the battery to the back of the car, hiding it along the sides (took the seats out). I had a friend help me run the wire to the trunk. I partially pulled off the rear panels and used fish wire (i think thats what he called that) and pulled it to the rear. but there is a grommet hole under the battery. you have to take it out and there should be a couple of holes there. thats where i ran it. had a friend push it in while i was pulling it on the other end. and it helps if you have some lube to make the wire go in smoother. hope that helps. lol

Not sure what tools you are referring to but there is nothing special needed, just a few torx bits and a couple of wedge tools.

ok i completed most of the install with the help of a friend. but i cant find a 12v switch thats the only thing stopping me from completing the install. i took a volt meter but it didnt register a voltage when ACC was turned on (position 2 or 3 on the ignition). is it just there? or where did you tap yours from? thanks

For all those of you asking about steering wheel controls...
Most manufacturers make their own adapter, this one that i used from pioneer was much cheaper than the PAC version, only one box and converted the rest of the headunit wiring at the same time for me.

i hate to bring up an old topic. but i would like to thank you guys on the forum. im about 3 months too late. finished my install (sorta) back in december. without you guys i would be lost and probably still be trying to install my set up. i know i stilll need to take pics of my radio install but i'm technically not done. im still awaiting my next mod and going to hardwire a valentine 1 to my car using the same switched v12 as i did for the HU. that will hopefully be in a month or so.
haha just an update! but i think maybe we should get a sticky going for guys wanting to mod their audio. i see the w203 guys have it.
but anyways. many thanks haha i learned a lot thru this process and will gladly offer any advice possible and pass on my knowledge of car audio. it has made my car into a more pleasant listening experience.
