That's why I let the professionals at the body shop take care of it. I'm pretty sure they used more than just tape. My guy didn't use foam in the gap, they sort of plastic welded a piece to close the gap.

I hear you.

I will be getting it installed by a couple of friends of mine who have a bodyshop.

They also have E55's and are very familiar with modding, so I am confident we will be able to deal with it pretty painlessly.

And yes, I too was thinking of filling the void with a piece of plastic or at least flushing it out with something.

All in all, it does look like we're going to have to pi$$ about with it to get it to fit.

It's the pieces that swoop down under the car that get me..... they don't quite sit either side of the existing lower section of the bumper.

Listen, is there any way you could post up some pics from under your car to show how you have got yours in place?

This would greatly help me getting mine done.

My guy warned me about the sides before doing the work. It came out good though. Here are some pics I have now. The car is in the shop right now, I could get you some better pics over the weekend.

Thanks for the pics, bud!

Yeah, if you could get some more pics of the under-side of the diffuser, that would be a great help too.

It seems that I'll need to use a very strong bonding agent to hold it all in place.

The ends of your diffuser look like they're stuck very nicely against the bumper. I'm guessing that they used a good bonding agent.. and quite alot of it perhaps, in order to fill the hollow inside of the diffuser AND get it to stick well.

I'm wondering if I will need to cut of the lower section of the bumper to help fit the diffuser...

Any more pics you can get would be most appreciated.

Do you know if they cut off anything from your bumper, or did they bond it straight on, into place?

They cut the bumper. I will see if I could find out some more detail on the products used for the installation when I go pick up the car.

Yeah, I suspected that they may have cut the bumper.

Any help you can give me will be very much appreciated!

Dynomite, thanks for your pm!

Ok,

By looking at your picture, I don't think they have cut your bumper where you have shown.

The diffuser actually sits in the recess, just above the black plastic trim.

The diffuser edge actually sits in this recess. I have drawn a red line around this recess to show you what I mean.

The section of bumper I am concerned with is the bit just inside, between the tailpipes.

Between the tailpipes, you will see the small, thin section of silver bumper.

I have indicated the areas of concern with 2 red circles in my other attached picture. (You'll have to look closely becuause my red circles did not come out very thick in the pic).

These 2 areas, just next to the inner tailpipes are what concern me as the diffuser does not want to sit snuggly against them.

In order to get the diffuser to sit nicely, I reckon that these 2 sections of the lower silver section will need to be cut away.

Are you able to tale a peek at these areas to confirm whether they cut these 2 bits away from you bumper trim?

LOL!!

Oi!... get under there and take a peek!!

LOL!

Only joking!

Ok, bud.

Try to see if they have cut the very ends off from this section of silver bumper trim.

The ends of this bumper trim are actually curved, which is what stops the square nature of the duffuser from sitting nicely.

To get the diffuser to sit nicely, I reckon that only a very small amount of the bumper trim needs to be cut.. just enough to give the diffuser space to sit nicely. I reckon maybe only 4mm
You should be able to see if you get your *** on your back and look from underneath (lol!)

Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hmmmm, not bad. It shows that the inside edges of the diffuser are sitting square and comfortably.

But I still need more blood from you man! hahahaha

Hold your camera behind the sections I circled in red.
This should then show me how your diffuser sits against the ends of the lower silver section of the lower bumper.

I hope this makes sense. LOL!

Let me know if it doesn't.

Tony!
How you doing, bud!

Yeah, I hadn't heard anyone else say that they had to cut their bumper either.

I held my diffuser in place against the car, but it didn't want to stay in place without wanting to pop out of place due to it being under tension in the areas I have mentioned above.

This is why I'm thinking I should have some of the lower bumper section cut off abit, so that the diffuser won't be under any tenion.

These are the areas that I am concerned with.

Without these 2 areas sitting either side of the lower section of the bumper trim, the diffuser does not want to sit right.

Also, another thing I noticed, these 2 areas I have circled on each side of the diffuser are slightly different sizes to eachother!

Hey guys!

I finally got my CF diffuser fitted today!

My bodyshop guy and I decided that it was best to use a very strong bonding agent to install the diffuser, instead of 3M tape.

It is stuck on solid!

We also found that it was not necessary to cut any of the existing bumper.

The diffuser is probably old-hat to some of you now, but I wanted to share some pictures with you all.

Thanks to all of you who helped me out with my questions!

Spoodge!

LOL!!

Na, my guy used some kind of 90 second bonding agent.

It's very strong stuff and has done the job very well!

I forget what it was called, but I can find out if you want.

Hope you are well, my good man!
