Clk320 clicking?

Hi guys. I have a 2003 clk320 which is making a clicking sound , it happens when you turn the ignition on and appears to be coming from under the steering wheel. When I turn the ac on as this happens, the air starts to fluctuate (gets weak then picks up slightly) with every click, then it goes away. Here is a video

I would appreciate some input, maybe someone has experienced this before? Thanks in advance.

that would be a stepper motor failure. most likely a broken arm....i too had this problem....

Search for " stepper motor failure"

you will find some threads and there is also a DIY for it, if you are mech-inclined.

After reviewing the thread on the diy of getting to your stepper motors, I just have one question. The instructions by liveniceguy were performed on a c240, I have a clk320, will I run into any large problems following his instructions?

Here is the thread. https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...hissing-2.html

Did you fix your motor issue? My clk320 is doing it now
I bought the motor and arm but haven't dove into fixing it. Were the dyi steps a lot different on that car than the 320?

I tore apart my entire dash to get at one stepper motor, plan for a whole days worth of work. It is not a walk in the park.

removing parts is easy; putting it back is hard.

Luckily I'm pretty good at this stuff. It's already apart, took about 2 hours so getting it back should be a little less. I found the part for $66 for the kit so I'm changing all the levers I come across

She's all done!! Took about an hour to put back together. If anyone wants to buy the gear/lever set, it's yours for $50 plus shipping. In box me. Has all the parts.
