Im looking to buy the following convertible in the winter for the summertime. An 04-05 CLK55 or CLK500 convertible. Alot of people were telling me dont buy one because Mercedes Benz discontinued the CLK model and these cars will be worthless and depreciate rapidly because of that. Is there any truth behind that ? Please advise. Thanks

An '04/'05 should have already depreciated to the point where you can get one for a fantastic price!!!! Go for it and don't worry about what "other people" say. Most of them are just envious of you!!!!!

There is some truth to it, but reality is...a Mercedes is still a Mercedes and can only depreciate so much. The market won't let a top-of-the-line car just drop to Honda prices.

A Mercedes convertible will never be 'worthless', just worth less.
When they discontinued the 1994-1995 E320 convertible the prices did not drop like a stone (like I had hoped).
The 450SL to 560SL convertibles of the eighties are not collector cars but maintain their value better than a sedan of the same year.
Like an earlier poster said, a CLK that is a few years old has already done a lot of the depreciating.
