550 Muffler vs. AMG 55 Muffler

550 Muffler vs. AMG 55 Muffler
Hey Guys,

I been curious to know if there is a major diffrence between my CLK550 muffler vs. the CLK55 mufflers. I have the AMG tips, and from what i can tell they look the same, but are they?

Would i be able to swap out my 550 muffler for a set of 55 mufflers? And would doing so make my 550 sound more aggresive? Lastly, would i be able to weld the E55 muffler if i can't find anyone to sell me a CLK55 muffler?

I drive the racism out of BadDebt. ;)
if you want your exhaust to sound more agressive but still bearable, remove your resonator...If that is not agressive enough, you can also remove your secondary cat-convertors and add an X-pipe, for the clean deep growl.

I've done both, however 550's don't have secondary cats. I beleive 550's (atleast mine and Roupins) just had 2 resonators. I removed the first one and slaped a x-pipe and removed the second one and replaced it with a stright pipe. But for some reason it's still not aggresive enough for me. My brothers SL500 sounds meaner and deeper. Mine sounds awsome from 1-2.5k, then i can't really tell a diffrence.

If the mufflers are different, they should have different part #'s correct? And if they are the same they should have the same part # right?

$200 but i didn't have a resonator (guess the 550's don't) i just had to silencers.

That's a lot for cutting and welding. Is it usually that high? Did you get it done at a local shop or a country wide service center?

Local shop. I didn't have time to shop around, so i did it at the nearest shop.
