Key replacement cost.
I lost my only key to my W209 CLK. I was told by the Techs that did not need the car to make a key. ParkPlace MB refused to make a key even after showing proof of owner ship. They said I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR AT THE DEALER. So you will have to pay for a tow.
The cost was $320.42 in TX I'm sure your rates will very and you might get a discount. Seeing they had my car ( after the tow) They kinda had me by the ***** on the price. I'm sure you can shop around, but this was the closest dealer and the cheapest place to tow.
I was quoted between $50 and $200 for a tow. The guy who wanted $50 got stuck in my parking garage and then was all pissed off about it and refused to tow it. They hire a company to tow cars from my Condos so I gave them a call and they did it for $80.
My total cost was $400.42
Hope this helps any one that is searching for this.

That blows about the iphone! I have a 3gs and I would go nuts if I lost it.

through his contact. MB put the squeeze on dealers a while back insisting
that they adhere to the price/security restrictions.
i'm intrigued that a dealer is insisting that the car be brought in. sounds
like they're being poo-poo heads. other dealers will order the key with
proper ID and paperwork; their MB system should show update on owner-
ship to confirm this.
even more ironic is that the Smartkey programming facility is in TX.
(before MB put the kabosh on price, I was able to get an Internet replacement for $60)
TRP-Theft Relevant Part, everything from keys, EIS', ME's, airbags, the list goes on. MB put a big crackdown on ordering any TRP part. If the car is in for service, and I as a tech need to put the part in, I have to sign a paper saying I received the part.

Once, he bought an ML for a guy who was such a cheapskate that week after week the ML's were too much money. The one that was finally in the guy's pricerange had only one key, and when he tried to get another he was told it was keyed out. Why would a 3 year old ML have gone through 17 keys you ask? Former loaner car!
Dude, are you saying your key was in the jacket with your phone? Do you think the guy with your iPhone can figure out your address, and therefore find your car?
anyone know if the price is more for keyless go keys?
i just called two different dealers and one quoted $475 and another quoted $275. that's quite a big difference considering the dealerships are less than 30 miles from each other.

You have to eventually take the car in with your new key - to do it properly a dealer will then utilize both your keys to electronically program the car to only recognize those keys. Ended costing me about 500 bucks for one additional key - but get this - my new key (from Germany) is a nice chrome sided model (just like the one they use for the mcClaren without the Mclaren shaded writing on the side chrome). (ok ok just like the one they use for remote hatch released R-classes and many others). Like the key - new style.
The only difference I'm aware of between '04 and '05 is the internal bus - different cabling/different design going forward.

Does that sound like a good deal?
