yet another loud squeal somebody please help.. =[

Im sorry for posting so many questions i used search functions and got an idea of what it might be but im just out of money to expermient on what these squeals and noises can be..i have a 2003 Clk500 and i have 19 8.5 ft and 19 9.5 rear i recently had a a tire pop so i temporarily put on my 18 x 8.5 i believe they are put on the back on both sides to be balanced properly and just not to put the spare donut my car is dropped dont want to cause damage the original 19s require shorter bolts instead of the longer ones for the 18s ever since i mounted them on i get a very wierd squeaking squealing noise that comes on after 20-30 mins of driving when it starts it doesnt go away and itll choose by itself when it wants to start mostly after i hit a bump..my question is im using the longer bolts the ones that come with the spare tire those size because the shorter ones wouldnt fit the 18s is it possible that its hitting the emergency brake or something else i read something like that but cannot be sure of it or maybe its my whole spindle with a lowered car in NY its almost impossible not to damage the whole suspension...any help would be much appreciated guys thanks so much in advance and apologize for such long posts

My guess is that the shocks, bushings and/or ball joints are worn. You can have them checked by a good MB indy shop.

i second that, just have it looked at. im sure they can tell you the problem and then you can have the choice to take care of it yourself or get it fixed at a reputable shop.

Well im sure its not the shocks because i just replaced them last week the the bilsteins front and back and replaced sway bar with new bushings my only guess is its the ball joints maybe because the sound starts when it feels like it or sometimes if i got over a bump and it will last the whole day, but im curious though if it is something worn out would it not make that noise all the time like from the moment i start driving, and is it not a possibilty that it could be the emergency brake that most members mentioned that gets in the way with longer bolts ? Thanks

Put the tranny in neutral, jack up the rear and spin the tires yourself to check if you hear any clicking noise.

Ive tried that and the shop has tried it unfortuneately the noise does not appear to be there with the wheels rotating so slow and like i said it has a mind of its own it wont be there for a while and then maybe after hitting a bump it will start and not end for hours. Its very irritating im officially lost and out of ideas..thanks guys for the help though

i have the same/similar problem. the squeaking noise appears whenever it likes, when am driving at slow speeds, pressing the breaks stops the noise and car comes to a stop, but starting to pull off and drive again noise recommences..
its a real mystery as the noise stops on its own after a while. ive finally decided to have it checked tomorrow, the funny thing is am wondering how to reproduce the noise for them to diagnose, fingers crossed, it starts thye noise when pulling in to the shop!
