Oil Filter Question

My next oil change is coming up. I was wondering if anyone used any other oil filters instead of the OEM one. I saw this K&N Oil Filter http://shop.oreillyauto.com/ProductD...Type=1&PTSet=A . Should I stick with OEM or try this K&N out?

So I should not try the K&N oil filters (Those oil filters seem promising with their advertisement of better performance) ? Just stick with the OEM? Overall, I don't want to break the car with non-OEM oil filter, but i do want the tiny extra performance.

If you plan to change your oil according to the service indicator then you better buy only the OEM. There's is a big difference in qaulity. The OEM are much stronger in design compared to the Mann filter. Even though Mann also make OEM oil filter for Mercedes. The Mann filter didn't stand up to the 6k miles oil change on my CL55. So I compared Mann filter to the OEM filter and the OEM design are much different and stronger.

Thanks for the advice. I'll go with OEM then.

I wish I could go 6 months without an oil change! I have to do it every 3.

Why? That to me seem a waste of money on Synthetic oil.

I live in the city, with all this stop and go traffic it is recommended that you change your oil every 3 months

I did my last oil change on 11/20/09 at 65,006 miles. My next oil change was scheduled for 02/20/10 at 68,006 miles. It is 03/02/10 and I have 66,850. I never actually reach the 3k miles. Probably going next week to change it

I do it every 5k miles. I drive pretty hard on CLK. Almost 6k RPM on gears 1-4.

If you dont want to pay the maintenance premium you should have gotten a solara. Service intervals are at 10k I dont mind putting in the extra few dollars to make sure my oil filter lasts thats long.
