how can I tell if I have keyless go?

I bought a used CLK and am not sure if I have keyless go or not. I have the start button on the shift knob, but it doesn't work. Also, when I take the key out of the ignition, I keep getting a message that states "Please don't forget key" over and over again. Also, I have the small square on the door handles but nothing happens when I press them.

The car only came with one key and the key looks brand new, so what i'm thinking is that the owner lost both keys, went to the dealer to get one made and didn't get the keyless go activated?

Could this be possible? If so, can I just go back to the dealer and have them activate the keyless go on the current key, or are there different keys for keyless go and without keyless go?

You can get all the "options" infos on your car based on your VIN# by call the dealer or NA Mercedes.

That happened to me as well. I'm still waiting for another key to be sent by my dealership and we'll see if the new key will work with the keyless-go feature. If it does, that means the key that I have right now is just bad smart key. The dealership near me will change it for me. But if the new key does not work as well, i think the dealership will take a look in the system.

I will keep you updated.

Yes, I still have my warranty. I guess replacing the key is still a cheaper idea than replacing the system. The key is about $200+ (less than $300) at dealer cost. You can bargain with your dealership.

is there a price difference between keyless go and non keyless go keys?

I don't think so. My dealership send me the key and declared the value of $200+. I assume that's what it costs to him.

That's most likely not Keyless Go then. There's a different black square that is larger than the one you're talking about. The one you're talking about is most likely the infrared sensor. If you get your key, point it at the black square, and press and hold unlock, the windows and sunroof will open. Point the key at the square and press and hold lock and everything will close.

Thanks QB, I knew about the window and sunroof going up and down by a push of the smart key. I just thought it does more than that.

also, maybe I should note that my key doesn't close/open windows or close/open the convertible top. this should just be done by pressing and holding the unlock button, correct?

I got keyless go on my CLK550. Your trunk should have a button to open/close, and there should be a soft rubber on the INSIDE of your door handles. All else fails, put your key in your pocket, and see if the car "go's"

Keyless go vs keyless start

I was wondering the same thing. I have keyless start listed on my options but it also unlocks with the key in my pocket if I hold the door handle. I can't open the tailgate with my foot or roll down windows with the key. I assume that's because I don't have keyless go.

You are in the wrong forum - this is for the W209 CLK - you have an X253 GLC:
