lowering the car
Thanks

A spring compressor is a spring compressor, yea there are different types. . and a spring is a spring. the H&R for are cars are nothing special.
I got one from pepboys. did the job just fine. It looks like a HUGE screw like 14 inches long with "U" shaped shackles to lock on to the spring, then just put a ratchet on it and you can start compressing.
as far as a special tool to take the cap of the strut, From what I remember, it was a 1/4 inch hex tool, available at any hardware store. after the spring is compressed just put the hex bit in at the top of the strut and unscrew the top cover holding the spring.
My cousin and I have the exact same Cars. both 04, CLK 500 Coupes. We did both car front and rear in about 5 hours. 4 hours for the 1st car, and 1 for the sencond car. It's all about the learning curve.
As far as the setup goes. it pretty easy, if you have done spring before your already ahead of the game. with my setup I can pull .91g on a 300ft skidpad.

it splits the exhaust. the open part of the Y has an electric motor with a butterfly valve monted on a flange.
so when i want i hit a switch and my car goes from stock, to muffler bypass . it's the best of both worlds for me, either loud or back to stock at the flick of a switch.

This is the last car I modded..., back in 2002. It was 2001 Toyota MR-S. Went all out on the car, Top Secret turbo kit, fully built motor, HKS F-Con Vpro computer, Recaro Seats.... & more...,
I am looking to mod my first Mercedes..., hopefully my CLK will be a good project.

I am looking into get the Kleemann super charge for this CLK, too many stock cars out there are fast. Gotta make sure Merc can keep up with those Bimmer or Domestic out there ^_^

I just started reserch what's out there for CLK and hopefully I can make something interesting and clean ride. I love the simple clean body line and look. So won't do anything wild, prob. focus more on the engine mod and I love the DTM look..., but might be too wild ...., will see. I will keep the update ^^

I guess after I totalled lost my MR-S (2 weeks after I finished building the car), I was really chickened out to mod the car..., insurance didn't cover anything....
