hideaway plates.... where/how to put it?

Hey

so yeah! i just got a hideaway plates from swiftmotors.... and I installed it on my clk500 with amg bumpers... guess what? after 2days... the thing wont show up or hide anymore! it looks like the plates are hitting the ground/curb a lot! (i know my bad)... so yeah.. I have to fix the thing... I think it is still working but needs to be adjust to make it work fine...

I just want some advice on where or how should I put this thing... It is really "REALLY" really low.. around 3-4 inches above the ground.. I dont even have the front lip yet... so if I have the front lip + the hideaway plates... its gonna be 1inch from the ground... the car is not even lowered yet.... lol

thanks in advance guys

thats my problem... the car isnt even lowered yet... getting pss9 and frontlip is still in the process of budget! lol.. so yeah I am still going to lower the car...

hmmm the idea of james bond was actually taken from here... I asked something about california front license plate law and dyno mentioned the hideaway plates so I searched for it... and kwala! I saw a thread here that says something like jamesbond hideaway plates so I copied it! LOL

I was also thinking the samething of cutting the meshgrill but kinda hesitant to do it. As of now the jamesbond plate is on "SHOW" only mode and cannot hide! LOL... I think the motor is stuck or I need to re-connect the wires to get it working...

I believe Advans is the one who had the hideaway plate. He ended up cutting the grille. There are some pics floating around.

yeah! I already got a ticket on not having a front plates on my civic before... the plates was on the dash! LOL...

When I installed the hideaway... it is supposed to be on show when "PARKED" and hidden when running... that's the best way to do it. The remote works great! I can show/hide it within 20-30 feet away... Until I went to San Francisco Last saturday! LOL...

the jamesbond thingy doesnt work by remote anymore.. but it looks like it is very fixible...

is there like a rubber stopper on the mechanism.

if i do this, i would plan to have it in the stock position of the license plate and have it hidden when moving like you said.

but i wouldnt want the plate or a plastic piece always smacking on my front bumper. i mean its already owned from rock chips and a couple of mishaps here and there. but im trying to reduce the amount of abuse on the front bumper.

edit: just did some quick searching and altec show and go has one too.

yah! there is a rubber like or foam to protect your bumper... getting the plates hitting your bumper is not a big deal as they have included those 2 big foam like material to stop the plates hitting the bumper... its keeping it scrapping the curb is the problem...

Well then you tell me.. what's the point? You just go show your friends how your lp can go up and down? BTW they make them for the rear plates too.

he just wants the look of no front plates. there is nothing wrong with that. and with the law in cali saying that we need a front plate, if something happens or if he is stopped(parked) he can put the front plates up. when hes driving, the odds of getting stopped by 5-0 are less.

so i mean why bust chops for it.

I put the front plate under my seat. When I get pulled over I show it to them and tell them that the bumper was just installed and I'm waiting for the plate holder to come from the dealer.

The statute in Texas is you must have front facing plate. I have the plate in the car, if i have been drinking or anything I put the plate in the windshield.
