Question Bilstein PSS9 installation cost

Want to get some feedback on average cost to get Bilstein PSS9 or other coilovers installed. This is only the cost of the installation.

Thanks
Darius

cool, so far I was quoted $1100 including alignment at a shop doing only euro cars so they have experience with Benz and Bilstein.

that is rape. you shouldnt have to pay more than $300, plus your allignment. so $400 max with an allignment. if anyone says it's over that they're trying to take advantage of you.

i thought 300 is about the price of getting springs and shocks installed.

Thats what I was thinking, I mean its not much deferent than a normal suspension install other than adjustment. I don;t mind paying 'extra' for a shop that has good experience with Benz and Bilstein but thats a bit high. I guess I could ship the car to you from Chicago and would still come out less or buy you round trip plain ticket

it's just not a hard job both work wise and labor intensive. i've done suspension on many cars before with coilovers and springs/struts. and to be honest the springs and struts take more time because on certain cars you'll have to compress the springs to mount on the struts, and on independant link suspension it's strut here spring here.

so basically, $1100 is rape. and you really need to look at other shops and options lol. or just find a reputable member of the forum in your area and see what they'll charge you.

Hi guys, finally figured out what parts I'm missing from my used set of PSS9 and ordered from Bilstein. Should be here next week.

Quick question. What is the typical install time we are looking at in hours for a mechanic that is experienced with suspension installs?

lol, I was just going over all my receipts and it looks like I was charged for the install of the PSS9's. It was $325 for 3.5 hrs of labor.

Where do you find your mechanics? I must to be looking in all the wrong places

I was just over at a guy doing mostly Porsche, Audi and BMW. Lots of experience etc. Was quoted $600-700 and 6 hours of work. That included adjustments etc. Did you shop do many adjustments for you or just set it for the height you wanted and left the other adjustments up to you?

Watching the videos at mymbonline

http://mymbonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2753

it honestly does not look like more then 3-4 hours of work.

So far I have 3 quotes excluding alignment, $900, $600 and $400

In fairness, I have spent over 10k with my mechanic in the past year. They set it at the height I wanted while installing it. I have been in the shop twice and have asked him to adjust it a bit cuz of my OCD and he hasn't charged me for the adjustments. I have developed a relationship with him, I think he has had my car more than I have driven it.

Whoever you choose, make sure it's quality work. I would probably pay $500 max for the job.
