Akebono pads..................are they really

as good as I read?

This OEM pad dust is getting old, real old.

If you have them, would you buy them again? If not, why? Downsides (other than cost)? If you've have experience with Akebono's but have moved on to another brand, do tell.

I'm fine with stock brakes stopping power/pedal feel, etc., just looking to reduce dusting/wheel cleaning by a significant amount.

FYI - CLK350 stock rotor/caliper application.

Thanks.

Bill

Yes, absolutely. I dealt with the brake dust from stock MB pads for 9 years, especially on the fronts. It was horrible because 3 days after detailing the car the front wheels would be coated with brake dust and look aweful. I finally made the switch to Akebono pads 2 months ago. The brake dust is gone. I don't see any brake dust on my wheels ever now, period. And, the brakes feel just the same as they did with the OEM pads. The "feel" of your brakes depends much more upon the brake fluid you use than the brake pads you use.

Noise??

Seems the only downside I regularly read about switching out OEM pads is squealing from the pads.

Your experience?

Thanks

Bill

They are that good and more. Just make sure to do the back too or your back wheels will look like the fronts do right now.

Yeah, I'll change all four corners if I do any. I've changed pads on our other cars. Any reason this isn't a DIY job on a 'Benz?

Awesome pads, no downside. No need to hesitate, pull the trigger.

I haven't heard a peep from mine. As long as the person installing the pads applies the anti-squeal compound, which comes in the box with Akebono pads, they should not squeal.

It was an easy DIY job, took about an hour and a half. Most of that time is taken by jacking the car up and taking the wheels off. There is a great DIY post here somewhere.

My Rotors and Akebono are coming in today so they better be good lol.

How long do you think it would take a newbie to change all rotors and pads keeping in mind that he has acces to a lift and all the necessary tools?
Anything i should keep in mind or be careful with?

Thanks and no mean to hijack a thread though sorry

The first side should take you the longest, after that it should get easier. Specially with a lift. BTW how did a "newbie" get access to a lift?
