As far as I know, the AUX hole (in the glove box on the right side) only comes with cars outfitted with COMAND/Navigation

Yea, this is the best pic I have. The car is still on the lift waiting for some spacers to come in. I passed by yesterday to pick up some parts and snapped a quick pic with my iphone. Not the best quality though. You have to paint them man, it makes such a big difference.

back on-topic, anyone know for sure which part number works with which car? That second thread referenced above cites parts numbers 210440500564, 2104405005, 203 440 18 08 and A 203 540 61 07. I asked my SA at the dealership which is right for my 2006 CLK350 and he wasn't sure. He offered to order all and let me keep the one that works, but I'm not sure the dealership is where I'll get the best price.

Lots of Audio20 users seem to have done the mod. The best test seems to be if you can get your HU into Aux mode, which the Audio20 does when you hold the CDC button down for a few seconds.

I dont think you will have problem with this part number,

Part # 2104405005 is $29.33 through parts.com

Thanks Andy. I think I'm about ready to take a crack at this. Now, since I know I won't have any control of the iPod with the steering wheel buttons (like I do in my wife's E Class with COMAND and real iPod integration), I'm tempted to try to run the wire in such a way as to get the iPod closer to me, say, in or near the console. Y'know, with the real iPod cable, you can't control from the iPod itself unless you unplug it from cable, so you may as well leave it in the glovebox.

Anyway, following the instructions from the DIY thread HERE, I see the cable seems long enough:

I figure I can run it straight across the passenger side carpet to the console:

Now as for the audio OUTPUT of the iPod, using the headphone jack will give me a variable output, so I'd have to max the iPod volume to level it with the rest of the HU sources. There are a couple of products that give access to a line-level output, like this one:

That's from Sendstation, website here.

or this one:

That's from SIK, website here.

That has me thinking about wiring it for power as well. Having just installed Bluetooth in my console, I know there's power there, but I'm hesitant to futz with that and screw it up. Anyone know some other place to hardwire for power?

right now I'm thinking this, which is $30

plus this, which is $9

in addition, of course, with this, which is $40 shipped

That's not crazy, is it? $80 or so to listen to iPod in the car......

By the way, another good thread about this on the W211 forum HERE.

it'll make it "line-level" so that you don't have to max the iPod volume to match your other HU sources.

That's for USB, which we can use for power, even with a CLA.

about $20

Hey, does anyone know where exactly the optional 12v glovebox power adapter goes, and if there's a DIY? That would surely be the simplest approach.

I do have CDC on Audio20, and confirmed that it has "aux input active" ability. I'm more concerned about the connector end of the cable.

I think it will fits...that part number that I used was probably the old part ...maybe they replaced number with the new one but it works for me. Take out the panel and shoot a pics I can tell you for sure.
