the clk is creeping up to 80k. and i will changing the springs and struts/shocks. i am really excited for the upgrade. but i am wondering if i should change anything else while the mechanic is at it.

bushings...i am hearing a creak-sp?- as i go over bumps front and rear. i am thinking its the bushings

other than potentially that, what else would you guys recommend i change out(replacement purposes only)?

Your Thrust Bushings (4pcs)..
Have a look at the inner and outer tie rods.
And then maybe have a look at motor mounts.

^ thanks! i think i will have him have a look at the thrust bushings?
i couldnt find it on parts.com is there like a more specific term i should use when talking to a mb tech or suspension place?

if the tie rods are shot...does that mean i need to replace the whole thing?
edit: better yet, should i have them replaced regardless if they have life still?

Brian, you going with the Koni's? Any thoughts about switching the sways? I just had the BS sways installed and they were a direct fit.

Side Note: Did you receive the springs? I think I sent the the #4 and the #2 pads..lol

yup i went with the yellows as they were ideal with lowering springs and the adjust-ability feature. stiff if i want them and soft if i want them. although it will probably be on one setting its whole life.

and i got the springs this morning lol and yes i got the 2s and 4s. thanks. now im just waiting for holland to get back to me on the konis i ordered.

i dont think i will be installing sways just yet. i want to see what springs and shocks will do to my car first. after the suspension install, i think that might be the end of my modding journey with the CLK. keeping it for the sunday car and looking to get a nice daily so i dont have to take the benz in and out so much. thinking about a mazda rx7 so i can drive daily and not be too afraid of messing it up. yes i know rotaries arent cheap but i think its cheaper than a benz.

I love me some RX7!! That would be a nice DD. Also a good balance, you could cruise with the Benz, or tear it up in the RX7.....

haha thats kinda like the plan. i would get the rx7 to dd although gas mileage is worse on the fc3s than the benz. its fine as i said before, its cheaper to maintain the mazda than the benz.

and i plan to keep it stock for the most part. i realize the more engine mods, the faster they go out. so ima stick to the basics: cold air intake, better radiator, other mods to keep the engine cool under the hood. i am planning to get the turbo ii model. haha so it would be a nice fun addition. and of course i think suspension will be made a lot stiffer than the benz.

but we will see how this pans out. west coast doesnt have too many rx7s that i like that are reasonable price for mostly all stock.
