replacing original flat hood badge: pry it off?

The hood badge on my W209 is all scuffed:

I found one cheap on eBay HERE (scroll down), and I STFFed; not much comes up, but it looks like the only way to get the old badge off is from the outside? Any tips on what to use?

You may try heating it with a hair dryer. be careful.
or you can try dental floss and go back and forth behind it.

There's a sponsor (JBSpeed I think) at the bottom of the boards that sells all kinds of badges. That'd be a good place to start. He probably has removal tips as well.

Just pry it off. Its just attached by adhesive and it has to prongs that fit into the holes on the hood. Mine popped off once and I just pushed it back down without issue so removing it should not be any issue for you.

hey guys, will THIS ONE fit our 209's? seller doesn't list 209; I've emailed him...his looks like maybe it's two parts, with the prongs stuck into the second part.

Looks like it might, you could see the prongs...I think the other part is what's already in the hood

seller says it won't fit. go figure. mine was all scuffed from buffing in it's prior life. I took it off and soaked in acetone; now it's just chrome.

lol, yea it's for the w209. I could get the part # for you later when I go to my garage. I have an extra one. It's like $90 through parts.com. I found it used on eBay for $50 but the sellers account was closed for fraud....lol

Wes, any idea what the part number is for the hood badge? Andy has shamed me into buying the aux input cable, and if I'm gonna pay a minimum shipping charge of $11, I might as well get the new badge too.

Thanks; great list! I stopped just short of adding the Daimler windshield sticker for $5. That seemed dumb...

I added the clear sticker. It looks really good on the windshield.
