So you never actually did a complete flush? You just did a drain and fill?Originally Posted by BadDebt
flushing a trany can break old deposits off and they will go thru the trany some times causing problems when they block up small holes that the trans fluid goes through. It's not a perfect science. You could be okay or it could cause problems, no way to know. I drained mine at 55 will do it again at 85,000. I was told the majority of it was changed although some fluid that was sitting in the tranny itself stayed in. 2/3s of it is new.
I think ill just do a drain and fill instead of a full flush just to avoid any unnecessarily problems

Not to discount everyone's advice, but my warrenty book does not say to change trany oil or filter, ever. It is supposed to be synthetic and lifetime according to my dealer. This is the 7speed clk500 2006.

Sure.... If you want your transmissions "life" to end around 100k. Let's put it this way, they don't do the lifetime b.s. anymore...

well it scared me to death, had it done anyway at 52k, that's when the light comes on, but i did notice that now on the 2010 cars they started a 10k service interval and they do a 40k filter and oil change on the tranny. still bothers me to let the dealer do anything to my car..

I was always under the impression that 5 speed was maintenance free. I bring my ML500 in for service and my advisor says it's time to do a flush. I tell him that I was under then impression the MB trans are maintainence free. He tells me that the 7spds need maintenance and so are the 5spds. He tells me that's a common misconception between mb owners.

I made a appointment for Monday, I have 9 quarts of fluid and filter+gasket. Is that enough fluid or do I need more for a flush?
