CLK320 to CLK500 Calipers
I have a 2004 CLK320. So my brake light just went on and I need to replace my rotors and pads. When I was at the shop, I was told I could get a set of used 2006 CLK500 calipers for fairly cheap. Since I'd be needing to replace my rotors/pads anyways, I was considering the switch. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but stock CLK320 rotors are 300mm, and CLK500 rotors are 345mm? I tried searching on the forum, but I'm kind of confused what rotors would fit the clk500 calipers? Are they the cross drilled ones? Would I be able to fit the amg ones?
Another option I was considering was getting the calipers/rotors from a SLK55 (from what I read it would fit my car). Could you guys please tell me how big the rotors would be, and how it would compare to the CLK500 ones?
Thanks

04 CLK 320 > CLK32K
The 320 comes with 300mm...I believe the 500 is 345mm...Stamped on the back of MB calipers is the size of the correct rotor. I can't comment on anything else, but I could say I'm running 355mm with no problems.

Could someone please clarify the differences between the CLK55 (4 piston) vs the CLK500 (4 piston) brakes other than the rotor size?
http://www.mwstewart.co.uk/articles/w209sportbrakes/
According to the article, it seems like the CLK500 rotors are 350mm, compared to CLK55 which are 345mm. As well, when I checked parts.com to compare the prices for 2004 CLK parts, the CLK500 calipers are more expensive than the CLK55 calipers.
I realize in later years, the CLK 55/63 has 6 pistons, but I'm curious to the difference in performance before the upgrade.
Thanks.

nope. all the same rotor for the 4 piston from 03 to 09
i dont know what to say about this one. from my understanding, both 500 and 55 pre 6pot brakes used the same 4 pot. except one had AMG and the other had Mercedes benz written on it. and possible a size difference .
so i dunno why. if you looking to do a conversion, i would say either buy a set of used 4 pot brakes or go 6 pot which would be hard to find or you can do a bbk from stoptech or brembo.
4 pot brakes come from many cars, so your gonna have better luck getting them.
