Winter is coming up again guys!!

Done your preparations yet?

I am shopping around for a set of winter tires and there are some good choices out there. Alpine or blizzak seem pretty decent.

Also came across this one ebay! I seen my neighbor use smth similar on his BMW 320 and he has all season tires and i also see it on police cars.
What do you guys think?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SHUR-...mZ180571575817

Any recommendations for snow tires that offer a reasonable price?

I have done the exact opposite of preparing for winter.

2 weeks ago, I purchased a set of 18" E63 wheels w/ summer tires and took the 17" stock amg rims with snow tires off of the CLK. lol

lol, I have been thinking about winter prep also. I have to find a set of 18's. Thinking about going with the Forgestar F14's in matte black. Will those chains mess up the wheels? Still not sure what winter tires I want to go with either.

I might just garage the car for the winter.

Just stick with a good brand snow tire (Michelin, Bridgestone, Dunlop) and you'll be fine. People really make way too big of a fuss about RWD cars and snow.

Winter for me means that all the race tracks are opening again! Trading Canadian snow for Dubai sand was still the beast deal I ever made.

Sorry for the little dig gents, I couldn't refuse

(if it does make you feel better, I suffered through my fair share of -40*F/C winters in the past)

I'm torn.....I've got these no-name 16" rims with snows that I bought from a former SLK owner:

I used to use them on my C230K Coupe and I know they'll look like crap on the CLK. I've also got these OEM CLK staggered 16" wheels I bought from a guy that took them off his 2003:

They have all season tires on them; I bought them to use on my wife's C320 4Matic, cuz she kept getting flats and bending rims with the 17" Sport wheels her car came with. I put those 17's back on the car when I sold it, and now she's all set with an E350 4Matic w/ all seasons. So I'm tempted to buy some new Blizzaks to put on these rims. They're not gorgeous, but they'll look better on the CLK than those mongrels.

I had been looking for winter tires to replace my Pirelli Snowsport-210. Not an easy task because of the sizes: 205-55-16 and 225-50-16.

The Snowsport-210 was good in dry roads but terrible in snow. I bought a set of Toyo Garit-KX based on the recommendation of my long time tire guy. I need good winter tires because of my frequent trips to Montreal. These Garit-KX are softer, softer than the Snowsport-210 and I did feel this when pressing on the tires.

No idea of how my CLK320 will ride on these tires. I will put on this snow tires probably at the end of November.

I bought and ran the Blizzaks last winter on my 17" OEM wheels here in the Midwest where we had record snow fall. Ordered through TR.

Had no issues getting where I needed to go. Highly recommend them.

My Winter Pirelli 210's were horrible. It was in a different car (FWD even) but absolutely poor traction in the snow.

I'm looking at some Conti winters or some Gislaved's (Conti's in 'drag'?) for the CLK.

Do you get them in staggered sizes? I might get all 4 in 225/40 /17s just to be able to rotate them.

You probably could, but except for rotating I don't see any advantages.

Wow, 235 in the rear?
