I'm just kidding.......I owe Jeremy @ OE tuning to give an honest feed back. There will be one negative feed back thought.

Ok guys, a couple days ago I has my 2006 Clk 500 ECU tuned by Jeremy@OE tuning. It was a wonderful experienced with Jeremy allowed me to be inside the shop and talked to him throught tuning sessions. The dyno were done on a Dyno Dynamics, so the numbers are much lower then Dynoject but it really doesn't matter because all we care to look at is the gains between runs. Here's how we did it.

1st run: We did a base dyno with the factory air box (with ridges/baffler removed). We got 231 rwhp with a/f ratio around 11:8:1.

2nd run: We installed the E55 Kompressor air box. We got 235 rwhp and 257 rwtq. A gains of 4 rwhp.

3th run: We flashed the ECU. We got 242 rwhp and 270 rwtq with an a/f ratio 12.3:1 A gains of 11 rwhp and 13 rwtq.

4th run: With a tuned ECU, we lost 5 rwhp.

5th run: Retuned the ECU and got the power back to 242 rwhp and 270 rwtq.

6th run: He told me that he going to advance the timing more now to lean it out for more power. That instant moment, mine CL 55 blown engine came back to life and I immediately told him that I'm happy with the gains so far and don't want another blown engine in the future. He assure me that it will not happen under his tunes and asked me if he can advance the timing just a tiny bit more and I said ok. We got 243 rwhp and 271 rwtq with a/f ratio around 12.3:1. A gains of 1 rwhp and 1 rwtq more over the 5th runs. He asked me if I were happy with the numbers. I told him yes with a safe a/f ratio then a max power with a lean a/f ratio blown up engine in the future.

Over all, I'm happy with the way the car response on the freeway when floor it. The power deliever are much smoother and pull harder then before. Here's what we done beside tuned it for hp gains. He removed the speed limiter and the torques limitation. We both agreed on not to rise the engine rev limiter base on the dyno chart because the engine wasn't making any more power beyond the stock 6250 rpm rev limiter. There's one disappoinment on the drive home, the initial throttle response is better then stock but no where near the Sprint booster. That was the one naggy thing during my drive home. When I got home, I installed the sprint Booster back on. Took it out for another spin and ....WOW. Now I'm very very happy.

A flash is a mod ECU file based on a stock car. These file can be use on all stock Clk 500. As for a tune, it meant a custom tunes while the car is on the dyno, they try to extract every hp out as possible. Since my car is stock and I didn't really want him to advance the timing that much. I didn't really benefit from a custom tunes. A custom tunes is really for car with exhaust, cams, air intake, turbo, SC...etc.

so flashed ECU is the way to go . That kind of flashed can be done by Speedtuning USA, Powership or with Jeremy right ? Of course, there are more tuners out there...just giving an example here.

Flash is the way to go with stock car ONLY. Different tuners different gain or no gain. At least one person have to dyno their car from that tuners to see if they know what they're doing.

243/271, respectable numbers for a very lightly modded car.

I am surprised however at the base run of 231 - that equates to roughly a 23% driveline loss. Most auto cars we tuned back home averaged 18% IIRC, I'll have to dig through my files when my stuff arrives in January. Do you or anyone else have data on comparative driveline losses with the 7sp and 5sp?

Regardless, if you're happy, that' all that matters.

18% drivetrain loss is an averages in general talking. If the dyno were done on a Dynojet then I think im might be right on with the 18% loss. Like I said, what really matter most is the gains from the base dyno number. If you think mine is low, here's the link to 2 C63 tuned by Jeremy@OE tuning on the same dyno as mine just different days. See posts #24 and #25 on the link.

Yikes, that's shocking. I use to tune on a Mustang Dyno, they read low in general bt are fantastic for loading, allowing you to make very specific tunes in all MAF/MAP/load ranges.

To convert from DynoDynamic to DynoJet multiply your number by 1.15

231 rwhp = 313hp (roughly) which is about right. I was told I'm close to 290 at the crank and I dynoed 215rwhp

Keep in mind these calculations are not 100% accurate. For accuracy you would need an engine dyno but a good calculation to know where you stand.

I'm glad you are enjoying your power...how is the Sprint Booster? Couple of people that I know have it and recommend it. Is it really that fun?

231 * 1.15 = 265.6 + 18% = 313 - 302 = 11
215 * 1.15 = 247.2 + 18% = 291 - 268 = 23 (I don't care about blown engines )

everything
So it appears that you got a 9hp power increase after some trial and error from flashing the ECU.

Can you please post the dyno graphs

Did you get a receipt showing how much state tax Jeremy charged, or was it cash and no receipt?

The first two lines of your post are okay and I am with you in regards to the dyno graph. The third line though is a little unacceptable don't you think? You should have sent that request/question via PM. I've been in sales long enough to know that public picking/bickering like that only lowers your reputation and standing. Strong companies and products speak for themselves with proven performance and staff integrity - they never take shots/degrade others, that's what weak companies and staff do.

Moving forward, I am interested in what you have for a CLK500 tune. Could you please PM me info and dyno charts (including AF ratio's & elevation). Thanks mate.
