Unleaded 95, 98 & V-Power (99)
Hi,
What do you guys fill your tanks with?
Have you noticed any difference between these 3?
My 320 is for 95, but can I fill it up with V-Power?
Can higher octane have some negative impact on a 95 octane engine?
Will the car produce more Co2?
/Mike

V-Power all the way for me!!
I used to use BP Ultimate when I had my 208, but I switched to V-Power when I got the 63.
We have a supermarket over here in the UK called Tesco, which apparently does a good 99 octane fuel.
Alot of people say it's good, but I always believe in buying fuel from a company that SOLEY makes fuel.
Shell have been producing fuel for many years. It's not just a matter of buying high octane fuel... you also need to buy a fuel that is clean and good for your engine too.
As well as V-Power giving good performance, I get very good MPG too.

That is why I was considering Shell V-Power but my car is specified for 95 octane. Can I still use higher octane fuel without any problems?
Anything I need to consider?
Thanks Rashman!

I'm not really sure, but I doubt there are any side effects. In your case going from 95 to 99 isn't too big of a jump. I know that member badblack had his car re-mapped at the dealer from 91-93.

Well, it was the dealer who did it so I don't think he gained any HP but who knows. I can tell you that after he did the re-map, he ran with Serge (Badblackbenz) who also has a 550 but with a speedtuning tune, and Serge pulled away easily.

I have seen ecu stage 2 tuning here in the forums. I believe you have that too?
What's the difference between 1 and 2?
Here in Sweden we do have ecu tuning but not a stage 2.
With a ecu tune here in Sweden you get from stock 218HP to 235HP.

Hey guys!
Sorry for the late reply... I took at walk into town with my lady.. the shops were calling her! lol!!
I don't think you will have any issues if you use V-Power.
Ultimately, it is a superior, cleaner fuel, so you shouldn't have any negative effects.
If any of you guys have a Shell garage near you and you haven't tried V-Power before.. get yourselves down there and give it a go!
On another side-note...
I recently made a 207 mile journey to see my girl.
Now, MB states that the fuel tank range on my car (it has a 62litre fuel tank capacity) is around 264 miles.
I made the 207 mile journey on just over half a tank!!
In addition to some tuning and driving like a grand dad (lol), I believe a good amount of this achievement was also down to the fuel being burnt more efficiently.

Hey buddy,
Yeah, definately try V-Power!
If you are currently using an alternative performance fuel, then you may not notice too much of an increase in power, but V-Power is very clean and you should also notice better mpg.

I wish we had 95 octane hehe, my car is retuned to run on 94 octane so i have to mix 93 and 100. Stage 2 means the tune is more aggressive only for people with K&N filters and no 2nd cats. Stage 1 is for fully stock car less aggressive tune. Or cars stock can retune it self up to 97 octane since takes some time not as agressive but it will produce more power vs the 93 octane gas.

When you tune with stage 2 do you move the red line for example to 6400-6500rpm or what exactly do they do?
I know what stage 1 ecu tune does, but stage 2
Minimum octane in Sweden is 95, I still think it's too little so I'm going with 99 from now on, thanks to Rashman

98 would be a SPA treatment for my car.
