You will never goes wrong with Bilstein. They made most of the struts/shocks for factory performances cars.

Not sure about the difference, but I would have to agree with Klinh.

B6 are longer, if your car is equiped with standard chassis. B8 are shorter, that means, if you plan using them with lowering springs, or with sport suspension.
For example, for my factory CLK55, B8s are the only option.

Hope it helps.

I had the HDs, didn't make the connection with B6. Lol They were pretty good. Member Dkim has them on his 500 now.

06 CLK350 -SOLD! 2010 Cadillac SRX Premium Turbo
Looking to get a set for my 06 CLK 350.

I emailed a sales guy at allshocks.com and told him that my MB was lowered on H&R springs.

Here's what he came back with. Front VE-5344 $321.10 and the rears BE3-6880 $133.25

I'm assuming that he took into consideration the lowering. Anyone familiar with these shocks numbers and the prices?

Not sure about the numbers, but you could cross reference them on Bilstein's site. As far as the prices, they are pretty cheap. I think a set of HDs goes for around $700.

Don't mean to hijack Sleepy's thread.

Here are the cross reference numbers.

Fr. 24-068802
Rear 35-053446

Both are the B6 HD's

The B8 is for lowered cars. Can't seem to find them though. Will or should the B6 models work on a lowered car? The stock shocks seem to have worked ok so far. Mike

I just had the Bilstein B8's installed on my H&R lowered clk a couple weeks ago. Had about 30k - 35k miles on the OE shocks since installing the lowered springs. The shocks were "shot"....... I had the rear tires changed as well (next day).

The ride is great and was so from day 1. The handling felt "mushy" and less responsive for the 1st 100 - 150 miles. This could have been due to the new tires on the rear, or their interaction with the broken in fronts.

The handling feels fine now; as does the ride quality.

Hay fatz, care to share another picture of your car with the new shocks
Also what's the part number for the b8.

Still debating h&R coilovers or springs. Don't want to be too low .

Thanks

The height appears to be about 1/8" more with the new shocks. The old shocks (rear) were bottomed. Will be a few days before I can get to new pics.

Omega48er; thanks and my wheels are 18". Saving my lunch money to maybe go to 19" next year. I think going with coilovers is best, particularly after my trip through some cities with poor roads. If I had coilovers I would have raised the car 1/4 to 1/3 inch. I could have used my truck, or your Jeep....
