Matte paint

Tribemembers

Gonna but the single wing sl grill with the districtic logo...

Planning ahead...

Anyone know what kind of black matte paint to use? Do I have to spray some sort of primer on the grill itself first???

I used Dupli-color Perfer Match (automotive paint) to paint the grill. You can buy the paint from autozone, walmart or kragen. Clean the surface w/ rubbing alcohol (you may want to sand the surface w/ sand paper if the surface is rough and dirty), then paint a layer or two of primer, followed by 3 layers of paint, and then a 3 layers of clear coat.

Cool. You could always plasti dip it and make sure you like it before painting.

I had my shop paint it. I did it myself the first time but it started to peel after a while. You could use plasti dip, but it will come out matte not gloss.

Question for you plasti dippers, if the front grille was painted with plasti dip, would it do a great god at resisting rock chips or would it peel and flake off in short order?

Wes - how is your plasti dipped hood emblem holding up?

It's holding up great. No chips in it. Then again I barely drive.

Yup, much better. Has held up good through a few car washes also.
