You will need the extra resistors for all W209s. The piece that has to be bent to make room for the lights are only on pre-facelift cars. You should be fine, only need the extra resistor.

I don't know if they ever advertised that they were plug and play. They probably have never installed them. Maybe try messaging the seller I linked above.

He does mention the pre-facelift ones need two sockets from dealers. Anyone knows what sockets he means? However, he does not mention that they also need a slight modification to fit.

The sockets are the plastic brackets that hold the bulbs. Only the pre-facelift W209s need them because their tails are different. For facelift W209s, they could just reuse their old ones.

god these led tails are pissing me off. i've tried everything and they still don't work after three days. the left side keeps popping up with the message and it blinks. it can't be the resistors because i've swaped them to the right side and its fine. so i don't know what to do now. the soders of the resistors are ok as well...

Ancient thread but the LED tails are still popular so why not revive it, right? The eBay seller says:

I have checked all the parts in EPC and other than variations in model years (the "C" shaped clear section which was changed to the single line clear section in MY2006) there is no difference between the CLK63, CLK350 or CLK550. I don't believe MBZ ever made LED tail lights for the W209.

I know that installing post-facelift tail lights on a pre-facelift vehciel requires some bending of the metal on the inner fender. I am not sure about these aftermarket LED tail lights. If so, it's a very minor thing to do.
