The car looks great.
Thanks Mikey, the new lettering kits are fairly understated, exactly what I wanted.

Really Kev looks great glad you got it back for the weekend, looking foward to some more pics and the write up WTG Brother !
Lol, thanks Louie, I'm pretty sure I'm going to spend more time just looking at it than driving this weekend, I'm a-okay with that

Thanks Jeff, the side vents were built right into it, no seams, I'll get more pictures up later.

Thanks guys.

I took another pic this morning to give you all a better view of the side vents, the really frustrating part is how badly photobucket degrades the photo during the upload, I think I'm going to move over to Flickr.

Anyways, here it is;

I was going to take it out and snap some good DSLR pics today but it's hot, damn hot, hot enough to do some crotch-pot cookin...

Another subtle touch to consider is to CF wrap, or white wrap the silver bump/moulding trim. I bet that would look good. I've seen this done to a c32 before.
Of course it looks good as is too. I kept my trim chrome, because I like it.

You totally updated the look of the w209!

If I was to change its would paint it white/body color. My idea from the beginning was to do a white, carbon fiber/black and chrome theme, that why I ordered my wheels with the chrome dish. Now that the CF hood is on, I think the car would look better with the chrome trim painted but f I did that, I would paint all of it including the door handles and then have to decide what to do with the wheels...

I think it'll just stay as is for now (exterior wise that is, a few more goodies to show off next week if all goes well)

I love how aggressive you've made the front. Always thought the 209 front was a little soft.

Thanks Richie, I needed something functional but I also didn't want a standard 'stick on' look/style. I wanted something that flowed into the car better, these ones turned out pretty well I guess.

Thanks pal, I'm really surprised over all the positive comments, the car is so different now and different than all the other 209's that I wasn't sure what to expect reaction wise. Seeing the car in person and from different angles really makes the pictures seem dull, they really do the car no justice, hopefully the DSLR and a video will give you all a much better look at it.

I like the white trunk. It reminds me that this car was once civilized before it took Steroids and genetically modified car growth hormones

I'd say keep it stock unless it really starts to bug you.

But, the body work and paint is now all complete and I have the car at home, I forgot what a blast it is to drive

Here's what was done;

1. Roof painted black (was vinyl)
2. Front airdam painted black (was vinyl)
3. Front carbon fiber lip removed, sanded and re-cleared with 6600
4. New carbon fiber hood, sanded down and re-cleared in 6600
5. Vorsteiner spoiler removed, sanded and re-cleared in 6600
6. Custom functional side vents made of carbon fiber and moulded into the bumper
7. Entire car wet sanded and re-polished
8. Front bumper cover removed, repaired and repainted
9. Front bumper grills removed and re-painted
10. New style KLEEMANN letter on trunk lid
11. KLEEMANN logos on fenders
12. New HID projector fogs
13. Headlights restored
14. New black and silver Mercedes hood emblem

Hopefully I'll be starting the next project in a few months, until then...

For what its worth, it's a great design pal, props to you I am however sorry that yet another manufacturer has sold off another guys "one-off" idea, I've had it happen to me and had no idea that was the case with this hood.

Regardless, GLWS pal, you've got a stunning looking car.

Thanks dude. I decided not to go back to Calgary this summer, maybe this Christmas, when I do we'll have to hook up for a beer or two.

I do too, the spoiler contrasts well against it.

How about some new track footage with the updates? Or stills from your car in motion doing what it is being built to do....... race.

Thx for breathing life into this platform. Just shows you don't need the latest face-lift to have fun. I still like this era of MB product alot.
The soft lines of this series mb car is just not replicated in much else.... unlike the newer harder lines which are more common...all imho.
One particular detail I'd point out is the way the hood is raised from each head-light back.... sooo sweet.

Very nice, Kev. But I think it'd look even better if the hood was painted white - jmho.

I'm sometimes not a fan of a lot of added black because it can dull the overall appearance of a car, but you have somehow managed to make it look brighter and cleaner. Mean, yet elegant. One small suggestion that might make the front end look even cleaner, accentuate the white/black contrast, and make your cf hood and lip pop would be to paint that mount for your front plate white to match the bumper. Just a thought.

I'll definitely get more trac pics and videos but that won't be until October/November. It's typical summer heat now, 130*F, no one races their cars in this heat, way too hard on them. I am going to try and get it into some shows though, not sure of what's going on this summer.

And I agree, the 209 has a nice flow to it, not overly rounded, not overly stylized, not overly angular - a really nice blend of all three.

No doubt it would look great white, it certainly would tame down the aggressive look and get me back on track with the OEM type look but I think I'm going to keep it CF, I'm surprised I like it this way, but I really do.

Thanks man, it's funny how the hood this way adds aggressiveness yet somehow still 'blends', I guess it's just a matter of all the accessories working together but none over powering the other. As for the plate bracket- that was actually supposed to get done! the guys at the shop forgot and will paint it when I bring the car back in for some 'other' work. I totally agree that it will clean the front end up dramatically

***AUDIO UPDATE***

Took a really good listen to the system and it was awful, something was obviously wrong so I went through all the basic checks. First thing was that the audio clown had some of the speakers wired wrong (fronts to rear/rears to front) on the drives side, another odd thing was that the car sounded very hollow and lacking bass. So, I hauled it into the shop today and pulled it apart.

After I got the door speakers re-wired I took a look at the HU crossover network and EQ, no matter what I did the sound didn't change, no bass, hollow mid range and no center stage. When I looked at the amps it all made sense. The audio clown has the high pass filters on for the component speakers (even though they were already running through crossovers) and set very high (only playing upper mid range, no lower mid or mid bass), the center channel amp gain was at minimum and the sub amp was set low but also the crossover was set at 50hz. No wonder the system sounded like ***, what a complete waste of skin this guy is.

I set all the amps to half gain, turned the crossovers/filters off, tuned the sub amp to 120hz and set the center channel amp at about half gain. I then tossed in my IASCA tuning/judging disc and got to work.

3 hours later I've got a fantastic sounding system I still have to do about 3 more tunes. It you want to do them a few days apart and only at 30-45 minutes at a time. The electronic crossover network on the 9980HD is the best I've seen in a HU, excellent control, I'm very impressed.

Car is parked now, off traveling for the week again. To be continued next Friday
