New/ Upcoming Mods

I gotta stop searching these forums because I just get more and more ideas...lol...

Did a couple mods to the car this past week which include blacking out my grille, hardwired my radar (got two tickets in 3 days...well got pulled over twice...no tickets ), and finally put on my AMG decals on my calipers...

Also, I've been thinking of my next round of mods which include:

-front lip
-AMG deck lid spoiler
-dual/ quad exhaust (cherrybomb glasspacks) (looking for AMG tips...hint hint)
-double DIN headunit
-SpeedTuning ECU flash after exhaust
-vinyl wrap chrome trim
-and any suggestions...

HIDs are looking fresh. Your calipers match your tail lights with the red/black. The front lip will set off the car nicely! How did you wire the radar? Did you have to take off the headliner?

Great job on the calipers, that's going to be my next project...painting them silver and applying black decals. Did you get the decals from eBay?

What kind of a radar detector is that? It looks like it's from the 90's!!!

Thanks man...that's exactly what I was going for...just don't know if I can get the lip now without Andy's approval...lol!...

As for the radar I didn't have to take off the headliner at all as I ran it straight to the center dome light console where the sunroof button is. Took me a total of 10 minutes to install it all, after finding the "hot" wire when the car is turned on. After that I just tucked the wiring away under the headliner.

Thanks also man...painted calipers really help set off a wheel...the decals are from e-bay and they work absolutely great! Buy extras just in case you don't stick them on right... ...

As for the radar it's a Whistler XTR something and I just wanted an all black box that had LED alerts/ changing color LED's to match my interior red LED's...and because I listen to my music really loud so it helps to alert me without hearing it...

Works great as I've tested it countless times driving by known speed traps and it has alerted me from very far away giving me more than enough time to slow down.

Love the calipers man! The mod bug is spreading like mad on the 209 forum this past while eh? It's awesome to see so many guys working on these cars, the more everyone does, the more chance of a larger aftermarket.

*edit* The blacked out grill looks great too, I like the star left chrome as you did.

Haha we'll definitely have to see about the w209 group buys...just never seeming to fall through...lol...

Coming from modding a civic...the aftermarket market is terrible...still astonishes me but with the mod bug getting us all I forsee more and more parts becoming available......hopefully...lol...

Just finished doing my rear badges with plasti-dip and blacking out all the chrome trims on the doors, windows, and bumpers with gloss black vinyl...

Was really easy to do just need a lot of patience...I'm currently doing the flat badge on the hood right now...

Little by little getting to where I want this car to be...

Also, still thinking if I should get a black deck lid spoiler or a color matched one...

It was all really easy...once again just make sure you have patience...

You lay the vinyl down, make sure there are no air bubbles, go over it a couple times with a roller or your fingers to get out all bubbles and to get in the creases...then with an x-acto blade follow within the grooves...it didn't scratch anything and adhered great...

Hardest part was the chrome trim nearest the side view mirror because its hard to get your blade and fingers in there, but it works out...

Lol my pewter is a mix with NewJd's Mods and Andys =P

Oh NewJd btw how'd you do the Benz Emblem. I plasti dip the daymm thing but when i try to peal it off the whole thing comes off. Tried like 3 times. The Clk 500 letters came out great. I dont even know how to remove the daymm benz logo. Only the germans would bolt it on somehow -_- but its good they did lol

From your sig I can see how yours is the hybrid of mine and Andy's...lol...

As for the badges, I taped it off and cleaned it so there was no gunk on it....then you lightly spray over it once...wait 10-15 minutes depending on the weather (I'm in Vegas )...then spray over again this time a little heavier, but NEVER spray back and forth...that causes the bubbling and differences in thickness...wait 15 minutes...do again up to your discretion...I did 5 coats...

When the final coat is applied let it dry for 30 minutes to an hour....

Then peel away...you can use a toothpick to follow up against the badges and it peels off nicely...lastly clean it up with a q-tip and you're all set...

Wes may have some other tips...he breaks off the mercedes star cause we can't get it off w/o breaking it...lol...

the replacement badges on parts.com cost like $5 for the star cause i have an extra star and CLK500 badge...
