So, you are running the factory head unit and the factory amp for the door speakers and an aftermarket amp and aftermarket sub as well?

Your stock head unit may be putting too much power out to ur sub cause ur sub amp requires it. sucking power away from your front components. I assume ur using a hi lo converter?

Not sure what a hi lo converter is...just had it installed by a pro

The way it's routed...the sub has it's own knob

When i change the bass setting on the factory hu
It turns up the sub bass only

Pull the fuse on the sub amp, then listen to the door speakers turning the bass on the head unit up and down. Report back...

Put your ear to the door speakers. Are they playing at all?

Okay, so you disconected the aftermarket sub from the system by pulling the fuse and now while playing just the door speakers and adjusting the bass all the way up there is no change in the sound whatsoever? Is this correct?

You know what I just did for you mate? I went outside, popped the sub grill, disconnected it and listened to the speakers - virutally no bass.

The HK crossover system is cutting all the sub bass (and a majority of the mid bass) out of the door speakers. You probably thought you heard more bass in the speakers because the factory sub is cabin firing and is more of a fill in sub rather than a shake your klingons loose sub.

I presume that you have an aftermarket sub in a box in the trunk now and the factory sub is disconnected...?

How powerful is the stock sub?

Btw it was a
Close call between JL 12" w6v2 and the t1 Fosgate

But heard side by side Fosgate seemed to hit harder for hard rock and trance

I don't know what the exact wattage is for the factory issue HK sub but it does do a nice job as fill. The loaction in the rear deck (cabin firing) and the free air design work pretty well as it goes. One day, when/if I finish the other dozens of projects I have on the go in the car and around the house I'm going to put a system in, I plan on mounting the subs in the rear deck. We'll see.

The sub ports came on the cab, the coupe has the cabin firing set up, w/ out the ports.
