i hardwired mine to the cig lighter and lined the wiring to the top of the windshield.

Thanks for the response. I've seen a lot of people do the same install before in my research.

I've got a BMW M5 that I did the hardwire setup and it worked great....although, I had instructions that I located. Just don't want to break something by prying on something.

I hardwired my Valentine One into the overhead assembly, and let me tell you...it is a PITA to get off. Good luck.

I haven't done this personally but I have seen the guy who was working on my car do it. You slip a piece of plastic inbetween the light housing and simply pull it out. It's a clip on piece.

Lol, didn't know having a air freshener was a mod...

Have you tried going to your nearest MB dealership? Whenever a problem like that arises for me, I just go and ask a technician. They usually help me. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

i second that. i would go as an mb tech, they would not only point you in the right direction but actually take it off for you. you can do the wire tapping and they might put it back up for you.

I have my radar hardwired to my overhead...it was really easy...I'm on my iPhone right now but there's a thread showing exactly what wire to tap into...and there's a thread of mine showing pictures of my radar...

To take the overhead piece down had a plastic screw driver wrapped in a towel then there's two clips in the front side of the overhead assembly...then it pops off and voilà...

Search for hardwire radar for your radar and interior illumination or bulbs in the w209 forum to show how to take down the overhead assembly...

If you need more help I'll make a video or something...
