Here is a pic of my unit taken by Jeff after it arrived from Germany and before it was shipped to me. Note the orange color of the illumination that should match our Mercedes verses the red on the BMW units and Dinavin website pics.

Looks Great !!! Tell me about your plan, are you changing the amp along with the speakers, or just the AMP and cables?

Waiting for your review, i want to buy one of these

For now the plan is to change the amp as I can't use the existing Bose amp with its fiber bose connection, and replace it with maybe Alpine PDX-5 (4.1 Class D). I will also need to replace the sub as the Bose one I understand is .5ohm so not usable with normal amp. The other speakers being 2ohm will be drivable fine with the new amp. I will see how the setup sounds and if I don't like it I will then replace all the speakers with something better. The center channel speaker will be disabled as it does not add much and would require another mono amp to drive if I could even run it somehow with the new head unit. Not too clear on that. Anyway I do not need it and will just leave it there idle. I will also leave the existing speaker wires in place and just run the source and power wires to the trunk. I guess the power on one side and audio on the other side of the car to isolate them. Still not sure regarding the ground to avoid any feedback etc.. I'm new to the car audio.

The Dinavin comes with quite a few wires so I have to figure things out. I will spend some time with Jeff identifying the plan of attack and then document the install with lots of pics etc.

I would also like to purchase the PAC interface to retain the staring wheel controls and I'm looking in to the rear camera as well.

I'd like to see the total price of this upgrade, and then see if I pull the trigger on this mod or look around some more.

Well for the price you can't beat it. Jeff will have to give you sales price but it should be less then some of the higher end dual din units that do not fit the cars with out adapters or mods. Adding in the cost of a very good amp ~ $350 plus cables and install that you can do yourself, I think it will not run more then $1200 A bit more if you add the speaker replacement, PAC wheels controls, backup camera etc..

I can't wait to get all the parts and get it installed.

Hey guys the post facelifted w209 is slightly more narrow than the w203. I bought a comand unit for a w209 last year for my w203 thinking it was exact fit but I ended up with about 1/4 of inch gaps on the sides. Also the mounting holes are off so you cant screw it down. I had sold it to a w209 owner and helped him install it and was a perfect fit on his w209 but not my w203. The OP mentioned it wasn't correct fit and I just wanted to clarify that it's not exact fit. If somoene else mentioned it then sorry for double posting.

I have just traced the opening with the tracing paper and cut out the shape. Placing it on the Dynavin unit that I got looks like a perfect fit.

see the pics of my existing unit and the exact Dynavin model details

I've got a 203 and a 209 and I measured the head units out a while ago, you're correct (as your pic clearly shows), the 209 is narrower. This is why the 203 dash kits need to be shaved down to fit the (facelifted) 209.

That would explain the problem I'm having with my CF double din.

That would be why. I feel bad for not putting a thread up about it when I did the measurments... The good news for 209 owners is that the 203 dash kits work with a little shaving & mods, unfortunately the 203 guys can't use 209 heads.

Would be good to get exact measurements for the face lift Dynavin replacements. At least the unit for the pre face lift look like they will fit great. I would assume the newer versions from Dynavin should as well.

Hey guys, so I have been in contact with Jeff and it is confirmed the w203 Dynavin will not fit our facelifted w209 and would prob look really bad if you tried. The good news though is there is an amazing electronics guy here in socal that works with all of the Benz dealerships here and is a consultant for pioneer and other electronics brands. He is now working with Dynavin to test and help make sure they are making a quality product that is able to install correctly on the newer benzes. With this I was the one that put them in contact trying to put it in my 2005 clk and Jeff knows there is a demand and is pushing for a facelifted w209 model. So hopefully we can get an easy to install reliable w209 version soon. I will def keep you guys updated and let you know if I find anything. I have already offered my vehicle for testing so if I am needed for the test you guys will be the first to know
