Error in removing stock fog light

in a nut shell, i am replacing my plastic grill with an amg style steel/wire mesh grill. the problem is the 2 small sections where the fog lights are located. the shop said that the factory plastic piece support the fog lights, but the new grill will not be able to support them. i think it would look pretty cheap if i only did the middle and kept the plastic pieces.

so here is where i need your expertise, how can i remove the fog lights without giving me an error signal. i was thinking of replacing the stock fog lights with led (similar to the ones that on the new e-class). any advice anyone??!??

Sorry, but what car is it? Can't see on my phone. Have you thought about doing a bumper conversion?

I'm guessing to run LED fogs there would be some wiring involved. Maybe some resistors or hard wiring them.

i have a 2008 w209 clk350 (non amg bumper). the shop told me that i cannot remove the fog lights or else the error signal is going to show up on the dash. therefor i cannot replace the plastic grill with the wire mesh. my thought was removing the fog lights entirely and replacing it with led fog lights with the wire mesh grill.

Yea, I understand what you want to do. The shop is correct, you can't remove the lights without getting an error. You can switch to led fogs, but resistors would need to be wired in. I think you might be able to hard wire the leds. Either way you are going to need someone who knows benz electrical.

Not sure what I will be doing to the kompressor yet. I will still be using the 320 rear diff and tranny, so I don't want to blow up. lol. For now plans are headers, pulley & tune, upgraded intercooler and pump, and a few other stuff. I should have all the mechanical parts purchased in a week or two and then I start on these power mods.

i have been looking to do the same to my middle plastic grille!

Did you do it yet if so can you post some pic. And if not can you post some pic of how that middle part was removed and where they decided to hold the mesh grille?

i was thinking mesh cover as well though there does not seem enough space to fit ithere.
I could jus leave it plastic too since the major thing will be the middle part.

Are you totally removing the plastic cover or are you putting the mesh on top of it?
Will you still have the "V" pointy uniform of the car?

Hey there 08 clk

I've been trying to work on the project for months!

Where did you get the new mesh? I found a company in Cali called Mina auto gallery but they have been bad about feed back

I'm assuming your side meshes have no hole?

Are you getting your led lights oem?

I have contacted Mina gallery to send me some pic of it installed from different angels and they said they would but never did.
For some reason it looks weird as it is there. I was thinking to buy my own and DIY.

My plan was to put it on top of the plastic grille. More support and you can maintain the V shape it has too.

update: it is not mina mesh grille....and the side grills supporting the fogs will have to remain plastic...anyone have any ideas? i asked if we can cover the plastic with the mesh grill, but not enough room to do any work.
