One Stop Thread for Comand 2.0 Upgrade
Alright guys I know all this information is out there, but I've decided after all my countless hours of searching and reading I will put it all in one place. Also, considering I will be cf vinyl-ing my interior like Andy, Michal and Clkboi, I decided since I will be taking off all the trim I might as well do my nav upgrade too.
As a note, Wanda/ Steve from mbenz.nl have been very helpful, but they only sell complete kits (headunit, harness, gps antenna) and I already had the comand 2.0 in my possession for extremely cheap...
The parts needed:
-Comand 2.0 HU (A203 827 48 42 80)
-GPS Antenna (A203 820 09 75)
-Wiring Harness (A203 540 09 09)
-4 Mounting Screws for HU -not necessary, but good- (A001 984 64 29)
-Aux Input Cable (A210 440 50 05 OR A203 540 70 06)
I'll post pictures after I do the install or after I run into problems...
Here are all the websites to ensure a smooth install:
-http://www.mwstewart.co.uk/articles/w209comand2/ (comand retrofit instructions)
-http://www.mwstewart.co.uk/w209auxin/ (aux install instructions)
-http://www.benzworld.org/tech.html?id=201 (comand retrofit instructions)
-http://www.mercupgrades.com/COMAND+Retrofit-article-1.html (comand retrofit instructions)
-http://www.buellwinkle.com/Comand/COMAND%20install%20and%20removal%20WIS.pdf (instructions for removing/ installing trim pieces)
-w209forums.com (diy's for removing/ installing trim pieces)
-parts.com (buy all this stuff )
Finally I have one question that I couldn't find the answer to:
-When doing the retrofit can I keep my oem 6 cd-changer?
Also, as some of you guys know I have a lot of mods/ changes in the works for my w209 so expect questions for that too...
-oem look dual tip exhaust with cherry bomb glass packs (have other oem tip (thanks Andy) and two cherry bomb glasspacks)
-cf trunk spoiler (waiting to install/ front matching lip)
-cf front lip (waiting...)
-vinyl cf wood trim (waiting for vinyl)
-upgrade to comand 2.0 (waiting for harness, aux cable, and gps antenna)
so I'm starting with the upgrade to the comand 2.0 to go along with the subs/ amp I recently just installed...

Great thread Angelo. I'm doing this install myself in a few weeks.
I was at the dealship yesterday to get a qoute on how much they would charge for this install (and to buy brake pads). One of them didn't know much about this, and quoted me 30 hours of labor while the other mechanic said around 3-5 hours.

I bought mine from Spain for 450 euro, $700.
Not alot of people mod and retro fit stuff to their mercedes cars here in Sweden. I'll keep my eyes and ears open if someone is interested in a Comand 2.0.

You need the retrofit cable harness which I listed the part number...you need this because the c1 and c2 connector are different...the harness just makes it plug n play...

If I were to let a indie shop do this install for me, were would I tell them to place the gps antenna? I think the dealership said in the glove box??

I'm doing my install this Monday or so, so why don't you wait until then and then I'll tell you exactly how to do it and then you do it yourself...don't pay man unless it's really cheap and more convenient for you...

Very nice, I'm doing research now and trying to get all the network version straight.
posting here on the Dynavin thread https://mbworld.org/forums/4563210-post71.html
I will need to read threw your links
Anyway, from the first pic you attached it looks like you had the same setup I do in my US 2003 CLK320 As far as I understand (coorect me if I'm wrong) this is the Audio-10 head unit with the tape deck under the display and the CD changer in the glove box. It uses the Mercedes D2B fiber network.
Also you question about our CD changer, I understand that we will not be able to use it if you upgrade to the MOST network.

The dude at the dealershop laughed and said good luck to me when I said that I was going to retro fit the Comand 2.0.
I also bought clips and screws for my amg front bumper but they weren't very helpful. The only thing they said, If the car didn't come out of the factory with the amg package they didn't wan't to help. I kept arguing til they finally looked up every bit and clip I needed lol.

Just bought the cable harness. Are you sure that I don't need anything else?

You should definitely invest the $12/yr for the EPC.

Alright!!!...sorry been soooooo busy, but the Comand 2.0 is still up and working great...
I would go ahead and type ALL the instructions, but someone already did it on their C class and it is exactly the same on my 04 Audio 20 to Comand 2.0...
Mikata: read the attached pdf and whatever you don't understand I will 100% clarify. Just know you must be comfortable with electricals, but I'll be able to help you out...
Just PM me and I'll give you my number or my email for which ever one is easier for you...
Along with the Comand 2.0 retrofit I also vinyl wrapped my dash/ wood trim...
Here are some photos...aux is installed too, but I don't have photos of that...
