MANDRUS WHEELS = JUNK!!!!

First set of chrome Milleniums were bent in a few months and the chrome began peeling off in less than one year. It took weeks of negotiations and threats to get them to replace the wheels due to the peeling chrome, even though the Mandrus Web Site clearly states this is a warrantyable issue.

Finally, I got them to swap me to the same wheels in black, hoping that these would not have the same peeling problems. Well they look good, but now I have 4 bent wheels and one of them is cracked (and leaking)!!!!

Chinese junk or what?????????

It looks like you have some bad luck. A few here run those wheels and I haven't heard of these problems. What's going to happen now with the bent wheels?

I noticed that your location is in MA, which is where I'm from, as well. The roads around here are HORRIBLE, so depending on what size rim you're running, I probably wouldn't be surprised if you're getting bent wheels.

I think it's safe to assume that about the NE as a whole.

I've never had one problem with my Mandrus!...I actually love them but I can see how the roads can tear up a Mandrus, but thing is that's how it is with every one piece rim!...the roads here is Vegas are great so I have no problems...but in Cali my Mandrus held up to every pot hole, dip and everything out there...it might just be horrible luck...Rashman should chime in too...

Never buy wheels from China...
However, if the Chinese want, they can make wheels with great quality depending on the money they spend in the process ..

poor driving + bad roads = bent wheels
just be glad you didn't drop serious coin on rims because the way it seems you have been driving you would really be pissed.

why are you hitting things hard enough to bend 4 wheels

You are focused on the bent wheels when its more about the chrome peeling off the wheel and thats what he's complaining about.

the bent rim is most likely causing a crack in the chrome thus the peeling. there is nothing wrong with Mandrus wheels. if properly cared for they should be a good moderate priced wheel. plenty of guys here have them and I've seen tons of them on MBs around town.

a quality wheel and tire center would guarantee the wheels if it was deemed defective but if you drive in there with 4 bent rims.... good luck

Hey guys, I'm alittle late in on this thread..

I too am surprised to hear of the trouble you have been having.

I have nothing but good things to report about my Mandrus rims.

I'm also surprised to hear Mandrus rims being refered to as Chinese rims.

I was under the impression that Mandrus are a German company and make rims specifically for Benz cars.

The packaging my Mandrus rims arrived in were riddled with German wording.

Did you buy copies?

I am sorry to hear that you have had issues with peeling.
I'm surprised at this too.

As mentioned, this could be a result of the bent rims.

As for bending rims, that can only be attributed to road conditions or/ and driving style. I'm not trying to make you feel bad, it's just the most likely cause, that's all.

The rear rims have a dish on them and could be more likely to bend but I am still surprised to hear it happen.

As Newjd2 said, I too have hit the odd ba$tard of a pot hole on occassion and have never experienced problems.

As Wes said, it could just be bad luck but I suspect it could be the driving style and road conditions.

On a side note, I waxed my rims 3 times, inside and out, before putting them on the car, in order to prevent any chances of peeling caused by the elements (even though I don't drive the car in the rain or in winter lol). But I still don't think these rims should peel even if you didn't wax them and drive them in wet conditions alot of the time.

Don't be put off.

They are a very good rim and at a very good price.

With me, I try to compromise when spending cash on rims.
After all, they are moving objects of the car that make contact with the ground and are also very exposed to damage/ bad luck.

It would kill me to spend proper dollars on rims only to be unfortunate enough to have one damaged or killed in a situation I couldn't help.

......though I am thinking of getting carbon fibre rims at some point....

DOH!

LOL!

Hey bud.

Yeah, I've been toying with the idea for a couple of weeks now.

My aim is to reduce the unsprung weight.

I saw some CF rims on an M3 a while back....

Baloney! The chrome rims peeled all the way up the spokes. They had been waxed twice in the 9 months I owned them. Even the dealer admitted there was a problem with them. How does driving style cause spokes to peel? 90% of my driving is my highway commute to and from work. Maybe they are decent wheels, but the set I got was junk.......
