Question about intake and filters

I'd like to try out two pod filters on my car. Do I remove the rectangular stock filters or leave them on with the pod filters? Cheers in advance

His mama. Traded y0 mama in because she was squeaking.
Remove them. If you leave them on, the engine will have to work harder to suck air through two sets of filters.

No worries.

Just make sure you clean the new filters (or replace them if they are not reusable) more often.

i think a couple of members have tried it. if i remember correctly, most trials ended up causing the engine to be hotter than stock

I tried searching but found nothing. Do you remember a key phrase that I can search for by any chance? I would be interested to know if they used a heat shield or simply installed a naked filter.

Do you know how they measured the temperature? Was it by their dash?
Cheers.

I've found short ram intakes with a universal fit, but there doesn't seem to be anything tailored for the W209.

Just leave it as it is. The stock system is the best you can have unless you want to spend some serious money on renntech or smthing similar.

That's because nothing more efficient than stock has been produced. You could probably go with an AMG airbox. The E55 box will require some modification, but the C32 might fit. Not sure the difference between the C32 and yours.

What is your engine bay look like ? I got the C55 AMG box on my...it helps the throttle response and also the temperature it dropped like 1 level down . I have made a thread about that AMG airbox too (for the fitments).

Ok the CLK 55, C55 airbox will fit the 500 and the 320 BUT u will have to re-used the front cover of the 320 . The CLK 500 front cover just a bit longer than the 320.

Here you go

I have a friend who does fabrication, so I've been thinking about a long ram intake, so I can stick it where its cooler.

Is this your car?

Cos that will only suck in hot air, given it will increase the airflow, but the temp will go up if its set up like that...

I've also been toying with the idea of removing the foglights and running piping straight from there. Foglights will be replaced with DRL's if I do this.

Thoughts/comments on this?

This has been done and I think one pipe like buffyclk's intake does it better than some airbox, it just looks ugly https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...air-intak.html

yup i could have had it done two dual cold air intakes but i talked to dynomite and realized he was right i will just leave it stock but it looks nice with a cold air intake dont get me wrong but i will just invest in some k&N stock filters or so
