I was thinking of putting my bubble resonators back on-i'm thinking right after my X pipe and before the oem Y pipe. Would that help reduce the drone or should i do it after the muffler? OR.....should i replace my x-pipe with a resonated x-pipe? I'm trying to reduce drone..please chime in

It really comes down to personal preference. I don't think anyone has modified their 550 exhaust in this way. It is louder than the other models. I would put the bubble resonators back on first and see if you like it. if not, I would switch the muffler.

Hard to say what my setup (bubble resonators, magnaflow x-pipe, no mufflers) sounds like compared to yours in terms of volume. However, I did have the same feeling when I first got it done that it was too loud. Wasn't until I heard my girlfriend drive away in it once that I realized that it really isn't that loud from the outside.

With that said, I think that putting the bubble resonators back in will make it quieter, but not by much. If it's WAY too loud for you, you might need like two bigger resonators or something else.

I'm gonna go put the bubble resonators on, if that doesn't work a new muffler or a resonated X or Zh pipe

So weird b/c I had the same thing happen. My GF drove it and I think it's fine, my problem is just the drone from the inside. I'm thinking I put the bubble resonators on, if it doesn't help I'll get a resonated x-pipe and possibly a new muffler. Pepe told me 550s are loud

If you're interested, or if anyone is, his pricing is MUCH better now that he's not with AAA. You'll be able to get my setup for around what you paid for yours. High Flow Mufflers in Long Beach FTW

What inlet outlet do you recommend? Should I have Pepe do it based off the puping?

Gonna go with the Borla. I don't think measurements should be an issue with the Borla, i mean Pepe will weld everything on...does the size of the piping make a difference in the sound? the only place he touched was after the muffler, so it's gotta be the muffler and not the piping i beleive.

This muffler is a bit odd..even after the resonators are on it sounds loud in the cabin....and when i floor it it sounds like a whistle!!!

Haven't been on MBW in a while......
Looks good!
And you found where Pepe went, nice! I highly recommend him to anybody in the LA area for quality exhaust work.

As you seen on my exhaust thread, the Borla will fit in the slot where the resonator used to be (that's how Pepe did it in my car).

I don't know what your quietness preferences are, but if your looking for OEM type of quietness; the Borla is not the right choice. Borla is a straight through design (you can literally see through one side to the other unobstructed; with some muffling on the outer edges) and you will hear it when you apply on the gas. It Borla sounds more Euro Muscle than American Muscle.

Keep us updated!

Thanks brother. I tried to copy your set up since it looked so clean. As far as Borla goes, I was hoping it wasn't loud. I dont mind the noise when I get on it, but this muffler is loud at 1500-2000rmp. The drone is unreal. Are you experiencing any drone, and did you ever remove your secondary cats? I think the 550s are louder than the 500s but hopefully the Borla can make it sound better.....right now it sounds more like a truck/Camero to me. I'll keep you posted.

Anyone know of a nice quiet muffler, Remus?

Thanks, W209 FTW.
Ya KW V2's.

This muffler is so tiny man, i got so much flow...i believe that's why it's so danm loud (and i took out my secondary cats). I think i need a more restricted muffler, the Borla from what you tell me is not gonna help, if anything make it worse.

Alright guys, so i'm thinking of having the entire exhaust redone unless i can find a muffler that's a bit bigger than the one i have or one that has less free flow. I think i have too much flow coming through, and going from the huge stock muffler to one half the size, i have no way of getting rid of the drone.

So here is what i'm thinking: i do the wrap around with a Borla muffler being where the stock muffler was, yet doing it in a way that i have even flow. I notice that there is much room on the side that the stock muffler is, so i'd do ONE pipe in, and ONE pipe out to go behind the wheel well, from there i do a Y pipe and warp one pipe to the left side, and one to the right. It seems like a lot of work/piping work, but this way i can have even flow and be able to stick a bigger muffler so i don't have the drone. What do you guys think? I added a picture. Red goes in Yellow comes out, and Y pipe at the GReen to even flow to each side...

not feeling it bro ... too many pipes IMO
why don't u add like a small cat before the muffler to reduce the free flow
or add a cherry bomb like andy did....

no room for a cat, and cats take away HP

what's a cherry bomb? maybe i can add 2 after? to push the muffler up and add one before?
