he added them without mufflers...
These are photos of my cherry bomb glasspacks, but I still don't have them installed...just can't find the time, but you get the idea...
Andy's brandnew pipes thread is long, but extremely informative...

Seriously, you are worried about loosing HP adding cats, but indeed you want to change your muffler for a less flowing one, or some sort of weird piping there?

Another think is, why are you using an x-pipe along with Y-pipe, there is really no point, since x-pipe is meant to even the flow in both pipes, but an Y-pipe makes it even better.
If you want to see some gains, make it louder, but with reduced drone, this is what i will do: Run a true dual 2.5" mandrel bent system with the high flow cats, X-pipe, & muffler all directly connected to one another back-to-back in the center of the car. Run an X-pipe first, high flow secondaries immediately after them, then a 14" magnaflow muffler after that. If you want to eliminate the drone all together you will have to run a 18" magnaflow muffler but it will be significantly quieter. Secondary cats will help a lot with the drone.
As AMS has suggested million times on these forums, the difference in gains using highflow secondaries or not are really minimal. These are probably the best available as AMS and tons of members are using : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Thund...Q5fAccessories
Really, the louder you want it to be the more drone will be an unfortunate reality.
There is no real Y-pipe, it's the factory one which is not being used right now since i put the bubble resonators back on.
I'm trying to do what i can to NOT have cats, but i guess after i get my brola installed, if it doesn't fix the issue then i'll be forced to add cats. I'm going with the Borla Carlos went with as i keep hearing Borla has a better sound then magnaflow. I don't want the American Muscle sound that i hear from every car on magnaflow. The option you stated is a good one, but i would do X-pipe-stock Y pipe-single cat-borla muffler. i think this would reduce noise and wouldn't be a dramatic hp decrease as i'm using one car instead of two. Part of me thinks i have too much drone because the muffler is in the middle of the car, and there is too much flow coming through, but i can be wrong.

As far as the muffler goes, i'm getting used to the rumble. 550 guys know the stock muffler has a slight rumble (with the 3 resonators off) from 1500-2000, i think any aftermarket muffler just exposes it like no other. Besides the Borla muffler i have no other choice, there is nothing else i can fit in there.
That'll be my last option. For now i'm gonna swap out the muffler, if that doesn't work ill bring the muffler where the OEM muffler was and warp the 2nd pipe around the spare and put on the other resonator.
