finally fixed engine but no spark ??

Whatsup guys some of you may remember me i had a dead engine on my 2003 clk500 with 88k miles. I havent been on the forums in a while since my car was dead and i had a death in the family so i wasnt in the states for quite some time.

My problem was that i had no compression in the engine and everbody said the engine was dead. I recently had it taken to the shop to fix and everything is pretty much done besides one thing, the engine was fixed and the compression test now shows that the engine is cranking good about 150psi per cylinder give or take a few psi as opposed to what i had before which was about 20-30 psi. I also had a dead battery which was changed so now that all that was changed theres more cranking power, after all was done my mechanic said once we put all the spark plugs in and put everything back together it should start right up...but no it did not.

The car seems to be cranking really well and strong but the problem is there is no spark we even put a few new spark plugs still nothing, so the mechanic took out the ignition wire and put a plug in and had it touching a metal and had me start the car to see if there was any electricty but still nothing. Could it be that something has to be reset or changed after a major failure like that some sort of special reset because my ignition coils were good before the damage and it only has 88k miles on it it seems weird that the coils would go bad for no apparent reason. Ive done some reading where people said that the problem could be the cps crank sensor but i dont know if that could be it because i had the crank sensor changed at about 70k miles, could it be that when my engine went bad and overheated in the snow that the sensor went bad i mean is it even possible that it could be the reason that theres no electricity because we know the engine cranks strong and we know that the fuel is being delivered and even some of the spark plugs are new(even went out and bought 16 new plugs for tomorrow just because im reaching 100k soon so might as well do it since im there.

Can anybody please help any input would be appreciated whether its some sort of relay or fuse or something needs to be reset after battery change or not likely but could the cps have gotten ruined again so quick, something has to give. Thanks again guys and its great to be back on the forums

Well we checked the cps it seems fine the problem is that since the battery has been changed out he said the codes have been erased. This is very weird could it be the ecu not sending a signal to the ignition all the other electronics work what could possibly be causing this strange problem of no ignition. ??? Somebody help please thanks guys

ECU is probably not functioning. Star diagnostic would be a good idea.

Thanks mka77 when you say ecu not functioning do you think a simple reprogram would do the trick..or is it possible that the ecu went bad somehow out of nowhere ?.. another quick question is this something that one of those fancy snap on computers would be of any help or only the star diagnostic is what can help because there's no codes or cel ..its just so frustrating my car should have been ready yesterday and the mechanic is stomped as to why literally everything works all electronics crank is strong but no ignition ...

It could be as simple as that. With it not running and able to hookup a ODII scanner too, really the Star diagnostic tool is the easiest solution. Good luck with it.

How much of the engine was torn down? Any possibility that some other sensor didn't get plugged in?

Good question. Something like the CPS?
