6/4 pot AMG brakes

Hey guys,

I'm doing some research before buying the 6/4 pot AMG brake calipers(from a W211).
I need your help to fill in some blanks.

Iv'e talked to lowpost that has the 6/4 pot from a CLK AMG.
He said I might need new spindles if I go with the brakes from a E55 W211.
1. Is this correct? (Im not doubting you lowpost just need to double check)
2. Can I use my current spindles with some modification?
3. Can I use my current brake lines with the amg calipers?
4. Can I buy spindles from any W211 (E350 and such) and use them. Will they fit my car?
5. Iv'e read that 8 pot amg calipers can fit any MB car after 2000 with some modification. Is this correct? What modification needs to be done?

As you can tell this is out of my knowledge so I need 100% correct answers on my questions guys before I buy the calipers, so no "should" or "maybe" answers please. They are kinda pricey and I need to know if the modifications needed to be done costs more than the calipers themselves.

Thanks!

YES
2. Can I use my current spindles with some modification?
I don't think so........but not sure.
3. Can I use my current brake lines with the amg calipers?
I don't see why not.

I believe E spindles only fit on the E-class.

Thanks!

Iv'e found a company in Denmark that specializes in this stuff and I'm giving them a call just to be sure that everything will work.
As I have understood it I can still use my current spindles, I just need to buy some kind of adapter for my spindles and everything work.

Thanks again!

If the 6/4 pot or 8/4 pot requires too much of modifiation I'll go with the 4/2 pot setup. But for now I want the big brake setup.

Does anybody know if the rear calipers(4 pot) of a C63 will fit my car without much modification?

i think the only ones that are direct bolt on would be the w203 c class and one of the SLK classes. and of course any one of the CLKs haha

Thanks Brian! Could you post some pics of you're brakes so I can see how they look on your car?
I saw a C32 today, and the 4 pot calipers aren't that small as they might look on pictures.

No modification required on the 6/4 pots from the C55 or Clk55. It a direct bolts on.

i will argue against it as its a big improvement from the stock brake set up of the 320. and much cheaper of a mod than the 6/4. not to mention, you us 320s dont need THAT much braking power. mostly for aesthetics haha

id say go this route if you have the cash flow.

Yeah. I've been searching on ebay for a while, but the only AMG calipers I can find are from E55 W211 and SL55. The most optimal would be to get calipers from a CLK55.

As you say, they are more for aesthetics I hardly even use the brakes when I'm driving besides from my spirited driving on the freeway.

There are many unanswered questions about the 8/4 pot brake upgrade but one of my friends found this guide:

The E55 conversion Seems like a lot of trouble to me. Good luck with your search!

Thanks lowpost! I'm really keen on doing this conversion but I'll have to do some more research.

I might buy the 6/4 pot calipers brand new instead of hassleing with the 8/4 from the E55.

What's the cost for the 6/4 Benz conversion with rotors (I can tell you exactly what it is for the Brembo GT kits)? The stock AMG 4pot calipers painted up with some R1 drilled rotors look pretty darn good Mike (a few members have done it), if you're just going for looks a new 6/4 conversion is a serious chunk of cash...

The 6/4 pot calipers with rotors all new would cost me ~$2800 excluding shipping costs.
What do you think Kev, worth it?

Thats a fraction of what I paid for my Brembo GT kits. Do I think it's worth it? Nope mate, I don't UNLESS the pads and rotors on your 320 are needing replacement - then it's a little more reasonable as you'll need to spend a good chunk of change doing the work anyways so you might as well spend a little more and upgrade. Another thing when it comes to cosmetics, you'll appreciate it more than 99.99% of the people out there that see the car will so in the end - do what makes you happy pal.

Rmember, you're asking an old guy what his opinion is...

I couldn't have said it better! Some wise words there The 320 isn't needing replacement of brakes but looking at the car the brakes looks so stock. I saw a C32 last week, the only detail I noticed on the car was the brakes.

And you're not an old guy, you have the most youthful looking car of us all
