It looks clean. Question, how is the sound/volume compared to the stock woofer that ports directly into the cab? From the pics, I presume this is a sealed sub enclosure.

I used to have a big standard size 12 inch alpine type r subwoofer and it was just in a big sealed box ( I'll include pics later) and it used to shake the hell out of my rear window as it wasn't a fixed roof so it would rattle in between te window and the cars body

It (from the pics) looks like a very small volume (area) box, it's going to be tough to get much deep/loud bass out of it with the 10. I had a pair of 10's in a sealed box in a competition car that could, if called upon, shake the paint loose - they were not small volume box subs like the slim designs of today call for.
Was the box built to volume spec or built to fit the car or both? Is that sub design able to be ported? If so, you'll pick up some volume and lower notes.

That was going to be my next suggestion - loading. I had a single 12 loaded years ago, worked pretty darn well (nothing dramatic though), instead of using wood I used a piece of 5/8" plexiglas, looked fantastic.
Your always going to struggle when you're using a sealed sub in a convertible but it sounds like you've got some good ideas on how to move forward. Good luck!

For right now I just hollowed a spot out of the foam in the spare tire well and hid the amp in there but I think I might actually use the cover I made whenever I re-do everything. I haven't really been happy with this box since I finished it. It just looks amateur to me.

I paid $800 AUD. Note that things here in Australia are more expensive that in America.. You guys would freak out at the prices here.. Are you happy with your bass from your sub? I'm not filly happy with the bass output with my alpine one.. Fitment wise it's perfect and clean however could use more bass.. Someone recommended me the Memphis slimline subwoofer.. Unless my alpine sub is faulty as it was underloading during the low fast beats of songs.. It had to be tuned down however these subs are supposed to hammer as they say..

slim line subs dont seem to have the same power as a full sub. i considered a slim line at first but the audio store convinced me to buy a full sized sub. my only regret is the size. i like the amount of "bump" that it produces. but the fact that it takes up more than half my trunk bothers me a bit.
yes i know i still need to take a pic. but the box makes it hideous compared all your custom enclosures. lol

I really wasn't going for TOO much bass as I still have the factory HK speakers everywhere else and didn't want it drowned out so it's plenty of bass for me so far. When I re-do it (which will probably be the next couple weeks) I might get some more airspace somehow, port it, and de-tune the amp down to what I want. Yea you might want to make sure it's wired for the correct Ohms and whatnot between the sub and amp, from what I hear the alpine R's are a good speaker. You can look up easy wiring diagrams and look at the amp/voice coils on the speaker to make sure they have it wired correctly.

Looks sicks but it there a way to replace the stock harmon karmon subwoofer and still have it ported through the same stock place in the rear of a carbiolet?

Both installs that are pictured look great, but I do agree that the 1st one looks more OEM. I'm not a fan of loading or bandpass enclosures, personally.

This looks great! I knew that there was another way to skin this cat! I just replaced the Command head unit yesterday and among other things the installer suggested a sound ordance compct powered sub to go under the seat. Wouldn't fit but I was so desparate for some bass to go with stock Bose speakers I had him put it in the footwell behind the driver's eat while I searched for another solution. This is the best placement solution thus far.
