driving modes (C/S)

Anyone can tell me what the difference it makes between the C/S mode? Does it stand for comfort/sport? What are the advantages/disadvantages? I always left it on C.

S is Standard or Sport. C if Comfort. The only big difference is that when u leave it in C, the car starts at 2nd gear.

True, in C the car starts in 2nd gear and it seems that in S the car revs higher before shifting gears.
90% of the time mine stays in C

I also have noticed that while i am in S, and driving non-aggressively, my gas will be better by 1 or 2mpg.

"C" or Comfort mode does several things differently than "S" Sport mode. First of all, it starts off in 2nd gear instead of first (it also uses a higher reverse gear, much like the forward 2nd gear). It will call for earlier upshifts and later downshifts. Also, it will allow for a slight amount of "slippage" during shifts to make them more smooth. Because of the earlier upshifts and later downshifts, you probably will see better fuel economy.

It funny how Mercedes kindna renamed these feature. This feature in actuality used to be a safety feature. Mercedes used to call it "W" (for winter driving to prevent wheels spin and lost control of car) It still does one main thing which is start the car rolling in 2nd gears.

Yes, on the 5-speed 722.6 transmission, forcing it into 2nd gear by putting it in Comfort mode actives the hill-hold feature. The 722.9 "7G-Tronic" transmission does not have this feature. It does some mild hill holding in 1st gear (S-mode) but not in 2nd gear.
