Hey everybody,
i havent been posting here for a longer time, had tons of work, but am still reading all the posts in free time.
The idea of buying an E55 is in my head for a pretty long time.
Now i am in a situation, in which i have opportunity to sell my W209 CLK55 for a great price, so i started to look for some clean E55 a week ago.
I found one 11/2003 black E55 with a rare two tone red/black interiour. Mileage is 109000km (cca 68k miles) and the exteriour an interiour is really clean and nice. Car drives excellent and so far the owner had no issues with it and it is great deal for the money.
It would definately need new plugs, filters, change all fluids, maybe motormounts (was shaking a bit on idle), valve cover gaskets. That is just what i found, but car was running great, transmission changing gears smoothly and airmatic seemed to lower the car nice without problems. However, you never know.
What are your opinions? Should i go for it and change my W209 for this W211? I know that maintance can be expensive as hell if something goes wrong, just like airmatic failures, etc...
I really like the look of my W209 and handling is not that bad either, but the kompressor engine is a beast, and the car is more practical for everyday use. However, MPG will never be the same as it is now and fuel prices are soooo high here in EU.
Is it worth the extra risk for maintaince costs? I would appreciate every opinion here. Thanks guys.

My concern would be that a supercharger past 100K miles is living on borrowed time. The Airmatic suspension may need some work, but at least it's not as bad the Active Body Control on the SL/CL where a single valve can cost over $1,200.

If you're looking for outright power then it's E55 time, however, IMO the CLK is a far more sporty car with a hella nicer look and interior. Again just my opinion.
Why dont you unload the E class you already have, grab the E55 and end up with two very badass cars?
