Love the wide body but can't stand the cheap headlight and un-even fender gap.

I love how some people on this forum look down on the "cheap" OEM headlights when Mercedes can't make their "expensive" headlights work worth a damn. My HIDs work 100% so I am hesitant to replace them with the OEM bi-xenons, which from past experience with the SL and CL, I know will be screwed up. As for the uneven fender gap, I agree and I am going to remedy that- my installer took it upon himself to raise the front of the car to eliminate rubbing but didn't raise the rear to match. I've tried 5 times to get in his shop so I can on the lift and adjust them, but the timing just hasn't worked out yet. I am thinking bring the front back down some despite his recommendations and raising the rear a bit to avoid bottoming out.

I have never has any problem with the factory HID headlight on all of ine cars. I personally like the aftermarket Bi-HID like the one Louie D. installed on his car. It 1/3 price of the oem HID.

[quote=Nero Tenebre;5223987]My understanding is that it's not a "renntech widebody" as Renntech had nothing to do with the bodywork- it's a custom, one-off job from what the build records indicate.

I like them both- the CLK63 BS is my favorite factory mercedes ever! I love the big bubbly fenders, aggressive fascia, and extra width but for DD duty I think mine serves very well. After the eurocharged tune, my combined MPG increased 1mpg, to 20mpg, as well so that's all good too.

Anyways, I had the rare opportunity to get some direct comparison photos at yesterday's cars and coffee (a flurry new black series owners in the past month here):

Don't want to argue if the BS is a cool car.

But your car still look more harmonic for my taste.

I wouldn't mind tracking it, but my NSX is a lot more fun for that. It would be nice to see what this car could really do out there a couple times at least though... maybe when the other benz guys go out there.

Question Hamann PG3

What do you guys think about me getting a set of these Hamann PG3 wheels made for my car?

Check out the photoshop I did, I would probably get 19x9 and 19x11 w/ stepped lips as shown. Compare the two...

All I can think is BMW when I see those wheels. Forget 'em, your car is rad as is...if anything get a second set of wheels that are black or charcoal and switch em up from time to time.

Nice to meet you too Jeff, looking forward to seeing your car finished!

I can see the P40 is the clear winner with more visual appeal. Thanks for chiming in guys. The reason I'm looking at 19's is that 20's are just too big for CLKs. Plus, I want to run the new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires because they are reportedly amazing. Michelin just doesn't make ridiculously low profile aspect ratios for dubs.

I fuxx with it! Love the ride. The fenders look ridiculous! I think the 20's go well with everything else. $15K is a pretty penny to spend on upgrades, I'm just jealous I don't have that kind of cheese to do these mods. Well done!

Looks like your front is raised in this pic... maybe just the angle of the picture. Got to upgrade the headlights next. Also, did you paint over all the trim on the car?

Did you replace your heavy OEM battery with a lighter one? Probably save about 10lbs there.

Yes I've still got the uneven fender gap I need to raise the rear to match soon since I can't lower the front right now. All the trim is painted black-

I haven't done that but that may be a good idea except the racing batteries have huge drawbacks if you don't drive your car often. May be ok for this since I drive often though and save 30-40lbs depending on OEM battery weight... I'm not sure I would do it for 10lbs.
