CLK550 vs yellow parking pole

Sad day... parking pole won. Turned into parking lot way too sharp. The rocker molding / side skirt is cracked and will definitely need replaced. Door panel dented in some right above rock molding.

Hate it when then that stuff happens. Look on the bright side it is just a car and can be repaired to look like new. Better than getting hurt in a wreck.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
Oops! You might be able to buff it and have the dent wizard smooth it out. Our 17yo did the same thing on the C240 with the fence post at the end of our driveway. It now has touch-up paint on it. She's a good driver, but I'm not spending the money to fix every dent in a teenager's car!

Winner should never be determined on the 1st race. Try again the other side, 2 out of 3 is the winner !!

Sorry this happened to your car.

For the door, you may want to first remove the yellow paint by a compound. I suggest Meguiars Ultimate Compound. Then consult a local dent removal guy, these guys can work magic. Maybe the dent guy can do the touch-ups for you as well.

Still have not taken the car to get an estimate, but will probably do so in the next few weeks.

My insurance accident forgiveness will cover everything, but not sure how I feel about "wasting" my one free accident on something so minor.

Anyways, I was thinking of just buying a new door and rocker molding myself, and getting it painted and installed. Parts.com has the door for $730, rocker modling for $430, and figure $150 in misc parts, seals, etc. 300-400 for paint (figure it should be less than normal since I would deliver pieces not attached to a car to paint and nothing to tape off, etc but I know very little about this so I may be totally wrong). Few hundred for labor, although I may attempt it myself.

From what I can tell on parts.com, a CLK550 convertible door is the same as the coupe - I have a coupe and have found a few convertible doors on ebay for around $500. Can probably get the rocker molding from the same place as they are gutting the entire car for maybe $200.

You may be right about the coupe and convert doors being identical, but just keep in mind that the side airbag is in the door in the coupe but in the seat bolster in the covert. That may or may not make a difference structurally in the door or what is included in terms of wiring or connectors, etc - just something to confirm before buying.
