Best value for money HID kits for 03 CLK 320

Hi guys,

I'm looking at installing HIDs and was wondering what is the best plug and play kit out there at the moment, value for money wise. Lastly, will I need 2 kits for LO/HI beams ?

I did a search but came up empty. Apologies if this has been covered

Cheers

For what its worth, I have had the HIDextra kits both on a W202 and the W209. I personally had huge cut off issues with the W209 and yanked them out to go with the dual projector group buy. I had one issue with installing the kit (mostly my fault) and the beam pattern was much better than any with just a hid kit.

I've got a HID kit for my projector fogs and HID bulbs for my projector headlights from HIDextra - no problems here so far. Very low cost and they ship to Dubai in 3 days!

Related question: In a "bi-xenon"-equipped '03 CLK320, are the high beam bulbs HID or standard halogen. The owners manual doesn't seem to be clear on the bi-xenon high beam bulb specs (or, maybe it's just me?). The term "bi-xenon" would seem to have you think (?) that the low AND the high beams are both HID, but the light color of the high beams sure looks like standard halogen (H7?) to me!

The term Bi-Xenon relates to the Xenon (arc) low & high beam projectors. They are mechanically dipped with a shutter for close to perfect-cut off that drops to achieve full distance high beam when you switch to high. The filler inner highbeams are just halogen & don't provide the throw of the BiX.

THANK YOU! That answers my question very nicely. So, the inner bulbs are H7 right? Meaning, I could replace them with a pair of "off-road" 65W Osram Ralleys? What about an H7 HID conversion kit, will using one cause the car to throw any codes??

OP: I'm sorry. When I get my answer, I'll leave your thread alone.

Yes they are H7's. Nothing stops you doing an HID conversion. A combination of setting Xenon present & resistors will solve. Your HID supplier will advise you for their specific kit. They are used to these questions. You just have to fool the SAM into thinking it's looking at the original spec lamp.
