2005 7-Speed transmission problem?
I googled through the old threads about 2005 CLK500/55. Many of the posters said that it had a transmission bug, since the 7 speed was introduced in that year. However, I don't get what kind of problem was. Is the problem still persists now?

The early problem related to speed sensors giving implausible output. Benz used to replace the valve body (Electrohydraulic unit) complete. If you take a look at the W203 forum you will see the matter discussed at length. Apart from the odd genuine speed sensor failure & solenoid spring failure, the real cause of crap seems to have been the conductor plate made by VDO.
There are no issues with the latest generation of the 722.9.

Guess that would depend on the owner having it done. You can have a report ran at the dealership that list all items that have been addressed by just the VIN.
I bought a used ML430 once upon a time, and had the report ran on it to see what all had been done. Pretty handy.

2005, 06, 07 cars are not necessarily a bad buy but you need the service history for the transmission valve body & potential balancer shaft sprocket problem with engines.
