Headlight flicker
Quite sometime ago I thought I had noticed my passenger side headlight (OEM HID) flicker at night, thought it might be a bad bulb. I changed both the bulbs out and still noticed it once in a while when driving. Now with the new bulbs in (3rd new set) I actually saw it flicker at a standstill (when the lights were on and I was standing outside the car) - it has never happened on the drivers side.
Could this be a possible bad balast? Now that the car is off the road for a few weeks and the front end is off it would be an optimal time to get this resolved.
Cheers.

Hey Kev,
I had the same problem on the same (passenger) side low beam. My shop replaced the lamps control module and it fixed the problem.
-Good Luck

I know that we have the power seats module ...just didnt know that we have the lamp module too. If the power seat module goes bad your battery will go bad too. Its happened to my friend CLK one time.

I am having that problem now... Low beam passengers side.
Going to replace both bulbs with 6000k but tell me more about said module... If its like anything else from MB Im sure it was expensive to replace... Any estimate on cost for this?

Good News! I keep all my maintenance/repair paperwork and I found the module part number!
Headlight Control Module
203 820 25 26
My extended warranty paid for my repair, but you can buy it on parts.com for $513!

About a week ago, my driver side HID did not ignite when I started the car (switch set to "Auto"). ...Message was sent to MFD and everything... Shut car down, and restarted and it ignited just fine. (Message went away, thankfully.) Turned lights on and off several times manually, and they both ignited every time. I have been using the lights (switched manually, instead of leaving them on "Auto") ever since, and have not had the problem recur. Not that I have any idea that the "Auto" setting had anything to do with it... Anyway, for now I'm concluding it was just a fluke.

I had to replace the control unit of one of my headlamps as well last year:
Control unit for right xenon headlamp
Part no: 203-820-93-85
I paid $750 for the part and then one hour of labour.
It was easy for the dealship to find the root cause. They have a spare unit in the garage to test.

To you ? I plan to go to indie shop this friday coming up for rear main seal, AC stepper motor and those lamp control module too. Hoping the warranty cover all that. I know they will pay for the rear main seal for sure but just not the other two. We'll see

If under warranty, why not go to the dealership?

Yep, I can tell from here that both your headlight modules need to be replaced with new ones. Then the old ones can be sent to me in Dubai for 'disposal'

It is usually the ignitor modules in or on the lamps that fail. Benz sells a repair kit.
See DTB pdf.

No probs Kev. I've posted it many times. If Xenon = present is set & lamps are good it's always the damn ignitors. Relatively easy DIY. Beats stripping the headlights with a heat gun to get the lens off or replacement of the whole unit.
