Convertible top won't open all the way
I have a 2005 CLK 230 convertible and a few months ago a little piece of the leather by the back window didn't pull itself all the way in when I closed the top. Now, when I try to open the top, the mechanism stops right after the back cover opens up. I also noticed that on the driver's side in the trunk, something was catching. I pushed that piece in, but it didn't resolve the problem. Any ideas about what might be wrong? I really don;t want to go the the BENZ dealership because they always charge me way too much money! Please help!

To the OP: It's probably a bad limit switch. If you have the tools and abilities, you might be able to track it down, but otherwise, you will need the dealers help. You might search here in this forum - there are several good threads with wiring and functional diagrams for the cabriolet top that can help.
