Wiper/Turn Signal Stalk Malfunction?

Wiper/Turn Signal Stalk Malfunction?
Anybody had their wiper stalk/turn signal go south? Raining here in N. Cal, and the wipers aren't working, but when I jiggle the stalk they work.
Assuming this will be a dealer fix, and probably painfully expensive. Any thoughts/tips?
Thanks,
Bill

I had to replace it by the dealership last year. According to the invoice, they call this the Combination Switch.
At the time, the turn signals worked but not the wipers.
Switch: 000-545-23-10 $196
Bulb: 000000-000853 $3.50
After my 15% discount on parts, I paid $302 (then tax on top).
Don't know why and which bulb they changed.
There is a thread on this if you want DIY. https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...placement.html

Ok, thanks. At least I know what I'm in for - also doing my 100K plug replacement soon, so between that and the new crank position sensor this week, I'll be in for $1500 into the CLK this month. :-(

mis: All of my services are up to date, I am at 100K miles. Car still runs like it was new, however the suspension is getting sloppy and will need to be addressed, so I am looking at a complete rebuild there: shocks/springs/bushings/balljoints/etc. I plan on driving this sucker for another 100K miles. Just had a brand-new c-class sedan loaner, and the interior looks really cheap compared to my car. I like the turbo 4-cylinder drivetrain, however, and could see myself buying a new coupe, so equipped. Sadly, I think they'll never offer a manual gearbox...

To the OP, did you do the transmission service to your w209?
I started a thread back in January's titled 722.6 ATF which prompted a long discussion on which ATF to use. I finally did the service with the new fluid and the car has been running great since. My car was running good at 150k miles. It was just a preventive maintenance but it gave me better-than-expected results. Shiftings are great and it eliminated some idle roughness at startup. I could definitely feel the difference right away.
I highly recommend this transmission service.

Yes, had the trans fluid drained and replaced at 84K, will do it again at 120K. The original W209 maintenance schedule apparently did not have a transmission fluid change, but then was added in after the 203/209 was launched. One can only surmise that there were some failures...

This wiper combination switch is surprisingly flimsy in these cars. The turn signal part in particular feels fragile compared to other cars...and it is! The one in a w203 I had failed so that you had to actually hold the stalk up to make a right turn, because it would no longer click in place. The troubling thing is, they all feel flimsy enough that this seems like it might happen again at any time.
